The Lowdown
Alright, this is Rusty, and I'm looking at the 16-day window for our little corner of the coast. I gotta be straight with you—it's a tough one. The Finder is showing no recommendations at all for the entire period. That means we're looking at a long, dry spell.
The only spot on the radar is Paco D 'arcos, a sheltered point break that's known for being inconsistent. For the first week, from Monday the 27th of July right through to Sunday the 2nd of August, the swell is totally flat. The combined energy is a big fat zero (0) for most of those days. We're seeing some tiny ripples of 0.3ft to 1ft showing up, but with short periods around 7 to 9 seconds, it's just bump on the water, not surfable waves. The water temp is sitting at 69°, which is about normal for this time of year.
The second week doesn't offer much hope either. From Monday the 3rd of August all the way through to Tuesday the 11th of August, the pattern is the same: tiny 0.3ft to 0.7ft swells. The wind is offshore, mostly from the NNW, which would be clean if there was any wave to ride, but it's just not enough. A few days show a combined energy of 19 (19) on the 8th of August, but with a swell height of only 0.7ft, that energy is all in the period, not the height. It's heartbreaking to see clean offshore glassy conditions go to waste, but that's the reality here.
The truth is, this is a classic flat spell for a sheltered point like this. It's a blank run, and it's pretty normal for the area when the swell windows don't line up. We just have to wait for the next system to push some proper energy our way. Forecasts can always change, but for now, I'd leave the boards in the car.
Rusty.
