The Lowdown
Right, grab a coffee, let’s get into it. You’ve got Lourdata or Lourdas Beach on your mind, but honestly, the next sixteen days are a tough watch for surfable waves. This is a real flat spell we’re sitting through. The water temp is sitting about average for this time of year, so at least a dip is refreshing.
We start on Friday the 21st with absolutely nothing—zero energy (0). Saturday the 22nd shows tiny 1ft dribblers out of the west with a period of just 4 seconds, but the combined energy is laughable at 6, and the wind is cross, so the surface will be messy. Sunday the 23rd is more of the same: maybe 1.0ft out of the west-southwest and a period of 5 seconds (combined energy only 4 or 5). The morning breeze is light and cross-offshore, keeping it clean on the surface, but there’s just no power.
Monday the 24th brings the best of a bad bunch early: we get a 1ft wave out of the northwest with a 5-second period, a light north-west breeze at 3 mph keeps it clean, and the combined energy scrapes up to 10. It’s still small and weak, but if you’re a beginner on a foamy, it’s the only thing resembling a wave this week. Afternoons are a write-off with cross-shore chop.
Tuesday the 25th morning goes glassy with a north-northwest breeze at 3 mph, and we see 2ft from the west-northwest with a 6-second period. The energy is 21, which for this spot in this window is a relative highlight, but still poor. It’s tiny and lacking any push. Wednesday the 26th morning is glassy again with a north-east breeze, showing 2ft at 5 seconds and 19 energy. Not terrible to look at, but you’re barely moving.
Then we hit a near-complete shutdown from Thursday the 27th all the way through to Sunday the 31st. We’re talking about gaps of days with absolutely nothing—combined energy of 0 or 1. The first week of September teases a tiny bit more life: Tuesday the 1st shows a 2ft wave out of the northwest with a 6-second period, hitting 38 energy mid-morning with a clean cross-offshore breeze. That's the most energy we see in the whole run, but it's still categorised as poor. Friday the 4th and Saturday the 5th of September both serve up tiny waist-high slop with a touch more period (7 seconds) and clean morning conditions, but you’re still hunting for something to ride. For this exposed stretch of beach, nothing stands out as a proper surf day.
