The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ for the Herzliya area over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – it’s a tough stretch for the Haambatia (Herzliya) break. The first few days are a write-off, with tiny swell, messy winds, and poor conditions. The water is sitting at 83°F which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so you’ll be warm if you’re just sitting out there, but there’s not much else to get excited about. The combined swell energy is weak, barely cracking 16 (on the 20th) and just not doing anything worthwhile.
We’ve got a long gap here with no real surf to recommend. It’s not until the morning of Saturday, July 25th that we see a glimmer of something. That morning, the swell bumps up to 3ft from the WNW with a light cross-offshore breeze that will clean things up. The energy picks up to 114 (moderate), which is about the best we’ll see. It’s still not a standout, but if you’re desperate, it’s the only time the waves are even surfable. The rest of that day and the following days fall back into the pit of poor surf and onshore winds.
After that, it’s more of the same – tiny, weak, messy. The morning of Monday, August 4th shows a little pulse of 3ft from the WNW with a slight cross-onshore breeze and combined energy of 60, but it’s still a marginal call. Honestly, for this whole 16-day window, there’s no real standout. The swell is too small, the period is short (5-7 seconds), and the wind is rarely on your side. If you’re a beginner, the small stuff on the 25th morning might be okay for a paddle, but for experienced surfers, it’s going to feel like a frustrating wait.
It’s a quiet period for Haambatia. The forecasts can change, but for now, it’s a case of the ocean taking a nap.
Rusty.
