Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for the next couple of weeks.
Well, I gotta be straight with you – it's looking like a pretty quiet stretch ahead. We've got a 16-day window, but the first few days are a write-off. The surf is just not there, and the conditions are messy. We're looking at a gap of about a week until things start to show any promise at all.
Starting from Sunday, July 5th, it's a no-go. Small, weak, short-period swell from the WNW, barely scraping 3ft, but it's getting battered by a cross-onshore breeze. The wave energy is weak, sitting around 102 (moderate wave energy), but it's all chop. This pattern of small, onshore junk just repeats itself through the first week. The wind is a real killer here, swinging from SW to W, always putting a chop on the face. On Monday morning, July 6th, it's a gentle cross-onshore with a tiny 3ft swell. Honestly, you're better off doing something else.
The first real glimmer of hope comes on the morning of Saturday, July 11th. We get a moment of glassy conditions with a tiny 1ft swell from the WNW. It's not going to give you a wave, but it's a beautiful morning. The energy is only 13 (weak wave energy), so it's a total flat spell. That glassy calm pops up again on Sunday morning, July 12th, with a 2ft swell, but again, the energy is too low to do anything.
The best bet in this whole forecast is the morning of Monday, July 20th. It's a full week and a half away, so keep that in mind, but the conditions look promising. The wind is forecast to be glassy, with a 3ft swell from the WNW. The period is a short 7 seconds, so it'll be a bit weak, but glassy is glassy. The combined energy is only 50 (weak wave energy), so you won't be getting barrelled, but for a beginner-friendly spot like Haambatia (Herzliya), clean, small waves are what you want. Just be aware that this break can get crowded, so you'll have company.
Before that, on the morning of Saturday, July 19th, we see a slight uptick. The swell bumps up to 3ft from the WNW, with a light cross-shore breeze and a period of 8 seconds. The energy climbs to 99 (weak wave energy). It's a bit better, but still marginal.
Overall, it's a tough outlook. There's no standout swell, no big groundswell to get excited about. The water temps are sitting at about 82°F, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year. If you're desperate for a paddle, that Sunday morning, July 20th, with the glassy conditions is your best shot, but keep your expectations low. It's a long stretch of flatness.
