Haambatia (Herzliya) Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you – the next 16 days are a bit of a flat spell for this stretch of coast. We’ve only got one break on the radar, and it’s not looking like it’ll be doing much that’ll get a surfer out of bed.

The overall pattern is tiny, short-period windswell and winds that just won’t line up right. There are no standout windows with decent wave heights and clean conditions together. From now through to the 12th of August, you’ll see wave heights bouncing between 0.7ft and 3ft, but the problem is the wind is either cross-on, onshore, or just adding chop. The combined swell energy readings are low – mostly in the teens, twenties, or thirties, with the best reading hitting just 99 near the end, which is still weak. That low energy means the surf will be dribbly and weak.

Haambatia (Herzliya) – this is the only game in town, and it’s an inconsistent beginner’s spot. The optimum swell direction is from the W, but most of what we’re seeing is from the WNW. The water temperature is 84°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year. Periods are short, mostly 5 to 8 seconds, so it’s all windswell – no real push or shape.

Let’s run through it quickly. Tuesday the 28th is a write-off. Wednesday the 29th is tiny and cross-shore. Thursday the 30th morning has the best wind of the early run – a light cross-onshore from the SW at 3 mph, and the swell bumps up to 3ft with a 7-second period. That’s the most hopeful moment of the first week, but it’s still marginal and mostly for absolute beginners or longboarders. Friday the 31st morning goes glassy with a 2ft swell, but again the energy is barely there (59). The whole first week and into the second is the same story: small, messy, and not worth paddling out for.

From the 8th of August onward it gets even smaller, with heights dropping to 1ft and below by the 10th and 11th. A couple of mornings on the 8th and 9th have glassy conditions, but with those tiny swells it’s barely a ripple. By the 12th of August we see the highest energy of the whole period at 99 with a 3ft swell from the WNW and an 8-second period, but the wind is onshore in the afternoon and cross-shore in the morning – still not the clean, lined-up waves you want.

Honestly, for a beginner who just wants to get wet, there’s a slim chance on Thursday the 30th morning or Friday the 31st morning. For anyone else, this stretch is a long quiet period. The spot is inconsistent at the best of times, so a run like this isn’t unusual for the area. Forecasts can change, but right now, leave the board in the car and go do something else.
