The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty again. Let's break it down in feet and miles.
So, look, I’m not gonna sugarcoat it—this is a rough stretch for Herzliya. The whole 16-day window is a quiet one, with barely a ripple to get excited about. There’s a big gap of nothing, and the only break that pops up is Haambatia (Herzliya). The swell is tiny, the period is short, and the wind is mostly a pain. The water temperature starts at 84°F, which is a touch warmer than usual for this time of year, so at least it’s a warm bath.
The first real chance comes on Thursday, July 30th, in the morning. You’ve got a weak 3ft swell from the WNW, with a period of 7 seconds. The combined energy is only 62, which is weak. The wind is a light cross-onshore from the WSW, so it’s not totally trashed, but it’s not clean. It’s a “marginal” call, and I’d say that’s about right. Then on Thursday, August 6th, in the morning, we get a similar setup: 3ft from the WNW, 7-second period, energy at 60. Again, light cross-onshore wind from the WSW. Still marginal. That’s the best you’re getting.
The rest of the days are a write-off. Swell is often under 2ft, with periods dropping to 3–4 seconds, and cross-onshore winds chopping it up. There are a few glassy mornings on August 1st, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th, but the swell is just too small and weak. You’d be floating.
If you’re desperate, the mornings of July 30th and August 6th are your only real options. For a beginner, this is a week to stay on the beach. The combined swell energy is weak, and the swell direction from the WNW isn’t the right angle for this spot, which is open to the W. This kind of quiet run is normal for the summer here, so don’t lose hope. Forecasts can change, but right now, it’s flat.
Rusty.
