Table - best surf conditions forecast for Haambatia (Herzliya) over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, it’s Rusty here, and I’ve had a good look at what’s on the cards for the stretch ahead. Gotta be straight with you – this sixteen-day run is a pretty quiet one. The swell is tiny and the wind is messy for most of it, so don’t be expecting any hero sessions. The strongest wave energy we see is moderate at best, topping out at 217, and that’s only on the very last day.
The first recommendation comes in on Wednesday, the 15th of July. It’s a real slow start. We’re looking at a morning session at Haambatia (Herzliya). The swell is tiny, only 3 ft from the WNW with a short period of 8 seconds. The combined energy is weak at 78. The wind is a light cross-onshore, so it’s bumpy, and the surf is pretty marginal. It’s not a session to get excited about. The afternoon is a write-off with onshore winds.
Thursday the 16th is more of the same – 3 ft from the WNW, period 8 seconds, energy at 66. The wind is still cross-onshore in the morning. It’s a struggle.
After that, from Friday the 17th through to Saturday the 25th of July, we’ve got a long stretch of nothing worth paddling out for. The swell drops to 2 ft or less, the period is a short 6 seconds, and the wind is either onshore or cross-shore. The wave energy sits in the teens and twenties. It’s flat and choppy. A real gap in the action.
We finally get a glimmer on Sunday the 26th of July. The morning is glassy at Haambatia, with the swell picking up to 2 ft from the WNW and 8 seconds. The energy is still weak at 58, but that glassy wind is a beautiful thing. If you’re a beginner, those tiny clean waves might be worth a look. The afternoon on the 26th gets messy again with a moderate cross-onshore, but the swell jumps to 3 ft and the energy hits 107, so it’s got a bit more push, just not clean.
Now, the best on offer is the very last session – Monday morning, the 27th of July. This is the standout. The conditions turn glassy with calm wind, and the swell builds to 4 ft from the WNW with an 8-second period. The combined energy jumps to 217, which is the strongest we see. It’s a small, clean little wave. The water temp is about average for the time of year here. This is your best bet for a decent paddle, but keep in mind the swell is coming from the WNW, which is not the optimum direction for this spot (it prefers W). Still, for this stretch, it’s as good as it gets.
After that, the forecast ends. So, to sum it up: the first week and a half is a write-off, save for a couple of marginal days. The only real standout is that last Monday morning, the 27th. It’s a long way off, so don’t bank on it, but it’s the one to watch.
Stay patient, Rusty.
