The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get into it for this stretch.
Honestly, looking at the whole 16-day window, I gotta be straight with you – it’s a tough one. The surf is pretty much flat or tiny for the vast majority of the period, and the conditions are mostly sloppy with onshore winds. We’re talking about a lot of days where you’re better off leaving the board in the car.
The first real chance we see anything that resembles a wave is way down the line, on Saturday, 26th July. It’s still only ankle-biters, and the wind is cross-onshore, so it’s not looking like a winner. The pattern holds for the next few days... more of the same small, choppy stuff.
Then, out of nowhere, we get a little spike. On Monday morning, 27th July, Haambatia (Herzliya) shows a pulse of swell from the WNW with a period stretching out to 11 seconds. That's a proper groundswell for this spot. The height is still only 1ft, but that long period will give it a bit more push than expected. The water temp is a nice 82°, which is about normal for this time of year. The problem is the wind is light cross-onshore, so it’s not going to be perfect. The combined energy is 62, which is weak. But compared to everything else, this is the one morning that has a touch of possibility. It’s marginal, but it’s the best we’ve got.
The rest of the week after that fades back into the same old story. Afternoons get blown out by a moderate breeze from the NNW. The swell stays tiny, the period drops back down, and it’s all just a write-off.
We do get another small window on Wednesday morning, 29th July. The wind goes glassy, which is a huge plus. The swell is still tiny at 2ft from the NW with a short period of 6 seconds, so it’s just confused wind chop, but at least it’ll be clean. The combined energy is only 42. For a beginner, this might be a fun session to practice paddling, but for anyone else, it’s hard to get excited about.
The last glimpse of hope is on Thursday morning, 30th July. The swell is 3ft from the WNW, period at 7 seconds, with a light cross-onshore breeze. Combined energy is 51. It’s a little better than the glassy day, but still not what you’d call a proper surf.
To be honest, there’s no standout session in this whole outlook. The biggest issue is the swell just never gets any size. The highest we see is 4ft on Saturday, 25th July morning, but the wind is light cross-shore, making it messy. The combined energy is 174, which is moderate, but the quality is still poor. If you’re a kite surfer, that afternoon with the 4ft swell and onshore wind might be alright, but for paddle surfing, it’s a no-go.
So, bottom line: it’s a long, flat stretch. The forecasts can change, but for now, just keep your eyes on the horizon and hope for a better run.
Stay tuned, and keep your wax warm.
