Table - best surf conditions forecast for Dreamland over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what Dreamland’s got cooking for us over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, we’ve got a bit of a slow start. The first solid recommendation doesn’t roll in until Sunday morning, July 12th. That morning, it’s looking clean with a gentle offshore breeze from the ESE at 9 mph. The swell is a modest 3 ft out of the SW, ticking along at a 13-second period – that’s a nice, long groundswell, which will wrap in cleanly at this beach and reef setup. The water’s sitting at a comfortable 81°, right about average for this time of year. Energy is moderate (560). Honestly, it’s a nice little session to ease into the week.
Monday morning, July 13th, picks up a little. The swell drops to 2 ft, but check out the period – a massive 23 seconds. That’s proper long-period groundswell. The offshore wind is a bit stronger at 16 mph from the ESE, so the surface will be clean, but that long period might make it break a little straight on the beach sections. The energy is solid though (668). Worth a paddle if you’re after some glide.
Now, the first real standout is Tuesday morning, July 14th. This is where things get serious. We’re looking at 6 ft of SSW swell with a 17-second period. The offshore wind is clean from the ESE at 16 mph. The combined energy is pumping hard at 2772 – that’s strong, powerful surf. This is excellent for experienced surfers. If you’ve got the skills, get out there before the crowds show up (it can get busy here sometimes). The long period will be best out on the reef sections for shape.
After that, we hit a bit of a lull. From Tuesday afternoon right through to Saturday, July 18th, the conditions turn marginal with cross-off winds and the energy drops back into the hundreds (575 to 1083). The swell sticks around 4 ft to 5 ft, but the wind is inconsistent and gusty. Not the best windows.
We get a slight flicker on Sunday afternoon, July 19th. The swell is 4 ft from the SSW, but the period jumps back up to a juicy 19 seconds. The energy kicks back up to 1799. Still cross-off winds, but that long-period energy will make for some fun, drawn-out lines out on the reef.
Monday, July 20th sees another bump, with the swell hitting 8 ft SSW and energy at a whopping 3524, but it’s paired with rain and a fresh 19 mph cross-off wind. That’s big, messy, and for experts only. Not a great call.
The next real beauty is shaping up for Saturday morning, July 25th. This one is a promise. 8 ft of SSW swell at 17 seconds (3394 energy) and, finally, proper offshore wind from the ESE at 19 mph. That’s a fresh offshore, cleaning it right up. This is a standout for experienced crew. Then Sunday morning, July 26th, follows it up perfectly: 8 ft SSW, 16 seconds, lighter 12 mph offshore wind, and excellent conditions for those who can handle it.
Wrapping up the run, Monday morning, July 27th is a treat. 6 ft of SSW swell, 14-second period, and only a light 6 mph breeze. The energy is strong (1357) and it’s glassy. That’s the best of the last week – clean, powerful lines with no crowd stress. A proper way to finish the outlook.
So, to sum it up: the standout sessions are Tuesday the 14th for the first big push, and then the window from the 25th to the 27th for the second run of clean, powerful swell. Don’t sleep on those.
Rusty.
