Table - best surf conditions forecast for Dreamland over the next 16 days.
G’day, Rusty here. We’ve only got one spot on the radar for this 16-day stretch: Dreamland, a beach and reef set-up that’s fairly consistent and exposed to a SW swell. It’s an advanced wave, so this isn’t beginner territory. The water temperature is 81°F, which is about average for the time of year, so no surprises there.
The first real swell shows up on Friday, July 10th, with a solid 6ft SSW groundswell rolling in with a 16-second period. That’s a long period swell, meaning proper energy and shape, but it’s gonna be lining up best on the reef and points here. The combined energy is pumping at 1901 (strong wave energy), and with a fresh ESE breeze holding offshore, it’ll be clean. Friday arvo drops a touch to 6ft, still SW and 16 seconds, with cross-off wind, but still clean. Saturday the 11th keeps the SW swell around 5ft and 5ft, with moderate cross-off breezes—clean again, but the energy eases to 1173 and 1249 (moderate to strong).
Sunday the 12th sees the swell drop to 3ft and 3ft, and the energy mellows to 598 and 365 (weak to moderate). The morning has offshore wind, so it’s clean but small. Monday the 13th is tiny—2ft and 3ft—with a bizarre 23-second period on the morning set. That’s super long, so it’ll be fat and straight at this beach-reef setup, but the energy is 646 (moderate) and the offshore wind keeps it clean.
Now, the standout window. Tuesday, July 14th, is the pick of the first week. The morning brings 6ft SSW groundswell at 17 seconds, with a combined energy of 2711 (very strong wave energy) and moderate offshore wind. The afternoon bumps to 6ft, 18 seconds, and 2655 energy. This is excellent surf for experienced surfers—big, clean, and powerful. Crowds are sometimes a thing here, so expect company.
Wednesday the 15th holds 6ft and 6ft SSW swell, but cross-off winds and rain showers on the morning keep it marginal. Energy stays strong (2175 and 1755). Thursday the 16th offers 5ft SSW swell with a 15-second period, offshore wind on the morning, and 1203 energy—very good conditions. Friday the 17th drops to 5ft and 4ft, with moderate energy and rain showers, still clean.
There’s a bit of a lull from Saturday the 18th through Sunday the 19th, with swell hovering around 4ft to 5ft, energy dropping to 708-968 (moderate), and fresh to moderate cross-off winds. Not worth getting excited about. Then Monday the 20th sees a spike—7ft and 7ft SSW swell with 16-17 seconds and energy up to 2449 and 2625 (very strong). But it’s cross-off and marginal, so for experienced surfers it’s a beast, but the tide or wind could mess it.
The real standout of the whole forecast is Tuesday, July 21st. Morning delivers 6ft SSW swell at 16 seconds, with a light breeze (6 mph) and 1689 energy—excellent for experienced surfers. The wind is light, so it’ll be clean. Wednesday the 22nd is a gem too: morning has glassy conditions with a 5ft SSW swell, 14-second period, and 967 energy. The wind is SSE at 3 mph, glassy—that’s a dream session if you can handle the size. Thursday the 23rd morning is also glassy with 4ft, 12 seconds, and 723 energy—clean but smaller.
The final stretch from Friday the 24th to Saturday the 25th offers 4ft to 5ft SSW swell, with light winds and glassy periods on the mornings. Energy sits around 998 to 1329 (moderate). It’s all clean, but nothing will top that Tuesday the 21st and Wednesday the 22nd window.
Best bet: Tuesday, July 21st morning at Dreamland—6ft SSW swell, light breeze, excellent conditions for experienced surfers. Wednesday, July 22nd morning is a close second with glassy 5ft waves. Get on it.
Rusty.
