The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on offer for Cabo Blanco over the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, I gotta be straight with you – this is a tough outlook. The whole 16-day window is looking pretty grim. We’ve got a long stretch of poor surf conditions ahead, with no real standout sessions to get excited about. The first real surfable window doesn't even show up until the morning of Monday, 21 July, and even then, it’s just a whisper of a wave.
The water is a weird story, though. For a spot like Cabo Blanco, the water temp is sitting at a very unusual 74°, which is a massive 7° warmer than normal for this time of year. That’s a real anomaly, feels more like a tropical swimming pool than a classic point break.
Alright, let's run through the few moments that aren't a total write-off.
On Monday morning, 21 July, we get a tiny pulse of swell. The combined energy is weak (97), with a 1 ft NW groundswell. The wind is a light cross-offshore breeze, which is the best we’ll see all forecast, keeping things clean. But it’s small, inconsistent, and for an advanced break like this, it’s barely a ripple. Still, if you’re desperate for a paddle, that’s your window.
The other half-decent chance comes much later, on Wednesday morning, 29 July. The wind goes glassy, dead calm, and the wave comment says "clean." But the swell is a pathetic 0.7 ft from the WNW with a 13-second period. The energy is tiny (16). It’s a truly flat, glassy morning. You’d be surfing bathwater.
The rest of the forecast is a constant battle with cross-shore winds, lumpy chop, and virtually no swell. The combined energy never gets above 167, and that’s with a messy cross-shore breeze. The swell direction is mostly from the NW, which is a far cry from the optimum NNW direction this point needs to really fire. The short-period windswell on the 1st of August and beyond is just not worth the drive.
For a spot that’s known for its consistency, this is a real dry spell. Nothing to get excited about.
Rusty, signing off.
