Table - best surf conditions forecast for Cabarete over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – it’s a tough stretch for surfers around Cabarete. The wind is blowing hard out of the east, and it's coming straight across the wave face. That cross-onshore breeze is just trashing everything. The swell is there, but it's short-period, weak energy, and with that wind, it's just a lumpy, choppy mess. We’re looking at combined wave energy that’s mostly moderate, sitting between 90 and 291 units – not enough grunt to overcome the conditions.
For the first real window, Thursday the 9th into Friday the 10th, we’ve got 5ft of east swell, but with a 22 mph cross-onshore wind, the water’s blown out. Forget it. The water temperature is sitting at 82°, which is totally average for this time of year.
This pattern just locks in. From the 9th right through until the 24th of July, it’s the same story day in, day out. The wind never lets up. Swell heights bounce between 3ft and 5ft, period stays between 6 and 8 seconds, and that consistent east wind keeps it cross-onshore. There are no standout days. None.
Look, I hate to say it, but if you’re a paddle surfer, you might as well leave the board in the car. With that much wind and that messy, short-period swell, this setup honestly looks more interesting for the kite surfers. The Cabarete reef is a consistent wave, but the conditions just aren't lining up for us.
Hopefully, this run of poor surf breaks soon. Forecasts change. For now, we wait.
Rusty.
