Table - best surf conditions forecast for Bingin over the next 16 days.
Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s on the table for the next couple of weeks. The focus is squarely on Bingin, a classic reef set-up that’s exposed to the south-west swells. The water temp is sitting at 27°, which is bang on average for this time of year, so no surprises there.
We’re kicking off Tuesday afternoon, July 7th, but don’t get too excited yet. Swell is a modest 5ft from the SSW with a long period of 15 seconds – that’s proper groundswell energy, but it’s a bit messy with a cross-off wind. The combined energy reading of 857 is moderate. It’s a clean-looking wave face but the score is low. We’re just warming up.
Wednesday the 8th sees the swell bump up to 7ft in the morning and 7ft in the afternoon, still out of the SSW. Periods hold at 15-16 seconds, so plenty of grunt. The combined energy jumps to 1915 and 2219, which is strong. But that cross-off wind from the east-southeast and southeast keeps things from being truly perfect. Still, plenty of water moving for a solid surf.
Now Thursday morning the 9th is where it starts to get interesting. The swell is 7ft, direction SSW, period 15 seconds, and the wind swings offshore from the east-southeast at 19 mph. That’s a fresh, clean offshore, and it’s going to groom those long-period lines beautifully. The reef at Bingin just loves that combo. Combined energy is a meaty 2159. This is a standout window – proper expert-level grunt with a clean face.
Friday the 10th holds similar size, around 6ft from the SSW, but the period stretches to 16 seconds. Morning has offshore winds again, despite a few rain showers. Energy is 2002. It’s another solid morning for the advanced crew.
The weekend sees a slow drop in size. Saturday the 11th morning is 5ft from the SW with offshore wind, and Sunday the 12th drops to under 3ft – 3ft and 3ft – but with gentle offshore breezes both days. The energy falls to around 470, so it’s weak, but the conditions are clean. The period is still a decent 13 seconds, giving some shape. For the more experienced surfer, these are cleaner but smaller windows.
Monday the 13th is a bit of a write-off with poor surf conditions, though the swell picks back up on Tuesday the 14th. That morning shows 6ft from the SSW, an outstanding 18-second period – that’s very long-period groundswell – and fresh offshore wind. Combined energy is 2079. This could be a real beauty, but the long period might make the reef a bit shifty – it’ll hold a lot of power.
We roll into the second week with more of the same pattern. Friday the 17th morning is rated as excellent for experienced surfers: 5ft from the SW, 16-second period, light winds. Energy is 1432. Saturday the 18th morning also gets a shout-out with 6ft from the SSW, 15 seconds, and offshore winds, energy at 1429. These are the other two standouts in the second week – promising but a bit further out, so stay locked on the forecast.
After that, the swell slowly fades into the 4ft to 4ft range around Monday the 20th through Wednesday the 22nd, with periods dropping to 11-14 seconds. The energy weakens into the 500s. It’ll be clean but not firing. For a reef like Bingin that needs some push, those smaller days are more of a longboard cruise.
This is an advanced spot. Any time the swell is over 7ft, that’s expert territory. The long-period swells (anything over 15 seconds) bring serious power, especially at a reef break. Best windows are Thursday 9th morning, Tuesday 14th morning, and the morning sessions on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th. Consistency is good – this spot turns on regularly – but the best quality is definitely in that morning offshore window.
All right, that’s the picture. Keep an eye on the sky, and I’ll catch you down the line.
Rusty.
