The Lowdown

Oi, Rusty here, checkin’ in on the surf outlook for the next couple of weeks. We’ve got one spot on the radar: Tel Baruch North Beach. But honestly, it’s a pretty grim run. The water’s sitting at 82° — pretty much what you’d expect for this time of year, no surprises there.

Right now and for the next week and a half, there’s basically nothing worth paddling for. Tiny swells, short periods, and mostly onshore or cross‑onshore winds. The combined energy is weak — single digits to low double digits most days — so it’s flat, choppy, and just plain poor. You’ll see a few glassy mornings here and there, but the waves are under 2ft, so it’s more of a float than a surf.

The only glimmer in the whole 16‑day window comes on Saturday July 25, early morning. The swell bumps up to 5ft out of the WNW, with a period of 8 seconds and combined energy hitting 238 — that’s moderate. Wind is a light cross‑shore from the SSW, so it’s not clean but it’s not trash either. Still, the file calls it marginal at best, so don’t get your hopes too high. This is a beginner‑friendly break, but 5ft might be pushing it for absolute beginners. And fair warning: crowds are often an issue here, so if you do go, expect company.

The rest of the fortnight? More of the same — tiny, weak, and mostly messy. By the time we hit the end of July, there’s a little blip of 3ft on Friday morning, but period’s still short and wind’s cross‑on. Not worth a special trip.

Bottom line: this is a long, flat stretch with only one very marginal morning in the mix. If you’re desperate, maybe check that Saturday July 25 dawn patrol, but keep expectations low. Otherwise, it’s a good time to wax the board and wait.

Rusty.
