The Lowdown
G'day, I'm Rusty. Let me be straight with you about the surf outlook for Tel Baruch North Beach.
Alright mate, let's have a look at what's on the cards for Tel Baruch North Beach. To be honest, it's a pretty flat and quiet run ahead for the next 16 days, with no standout sessions that'll get the heart racing. The water's sitting at a toasty 86°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year – feels like a bath out there.
We're kicking off on Thursday the 20th of August, but don't get your hopes up. The swell is barely a bump, only 1 ft out of the northwest with a short, weak period of 5 seconds. The combined wave energy is a paltry 7, so it's just not doing anything. The morning has a light cross-shore from the north at 6 mph, but it's still poor surf. The afternoon gets a bit more breeze from the NNW at 16 mph, making it choppy and cross-onshore. This pattern just keeps rolling through the rest of August and into early September – tiny swells, mostly from the WNW, with periods between 3 and 7 seconds. The combined energy stays low, generally under 100, so it's all weak and uninspiring.
There's a little window on Tuesday the 25th of August morning where the wind drops out completely – glassy conditions with 0 mph from the WSW – but the swell is still only 1 ft with a 6-second period. It's flat, mate. Absolutely flat. The next couple of weeks are much the same: small, weak swells with onshore or cross-onshore winds most afternoons blowing at 9 to 16 mph.
We do see a slight uptick in combined energy towards the 28th and 29th of August, hitting 48 and then 78 in the afternoons, with swell heights creeping up to 3 ft. But the period stays short at 7 seconds, and the onshore wind from the WNW or W makes it messy. Not worth paddling out for.
Into the first few days of September, there's a tease of glassy conditions on the morning of Wednesday the 2nd and Thursday the 3rd, with the swell a bit cleaner from the W at 2 ft and a 6-second period. The combined energy is still only 20 to 25. The wind is dead calm, so the surface would be like a mirror, but there's just no push. The afternoons get ruined by a moderate NW breeze anyway.
Bottom line: there are no good surf options in this 16-day window. It's a big blank run, which is more normal for this area when the swell just doesn't show. It tends not to stay poor for long, and forecasts can change, but right now, you're better off leaving the board at home.
Rusty.
