Tel Baruch North Beach Surf Forecast and Surf Report

G’day, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you: the next couple of weeks are looking pretty grim for a paddle. We’ve got a run of small, weak, and often choppy surf ahead, and I’m not seeing anything that’ll get your heart racing. The good news? There are a few windows where the wind drops right out, and the ocean goes glassy, so if you’re desperate for a splash, you might find a clean little ripple.

The first bit of the run, through the weekend and into early next week, is all about small, junky swell. Friday the 14th sees a weak 2 ft to 3 ft WNW swell with a short 6-second period, and a cross-shore breeze kicking up a cross-chop. It’s not worth your time. Saturday and Sunday are a bit bigger, pushing 3.3 ft on Sunday, but the period is still short (6-8 seconds), and the onshore winds are going to make it messy. The energy is weak to moderate, with the combined energy reading between 51 and 157 (before you ask, mostly weak stuff). Water temp is a touch warmer than normal at 85.6°, which is nice, but it won’t save the surf.

Early next week, Monday and Tuesday, we see a little bump in size on Monday afternoon (3.6 ft) but it’s still short-period and onshore. The wind is moderate, so expect chop. Tuesday morning has a slight lull in the wind (3 mph) but the swell drops back to 2.6 ft and it’s still not clean.

Then we hit a proper flat spell. From Wednesday the 20th through to Friday the 22nd, the swell just fades away. We’re talking 2 ft or less, with periods dropping to 5 seconds. It’s almost dead. There’s one highlight in this flatness: Sunday morning the 23rd. The wind goes glassy and calm, and there’s a tiny 1.3 ft WNW swell. It’s small, real small, but it’ll be clean. If you’ve got a longboard and just want to get wet, that’s your window. The energy is weak (10), so don’t expect any push.

The following week, from the 24th onward, is more of the same – small, weak, and mostly wind-affected. There’s a slight pick-up on Wednesday the 26th with 2.6 ft to 3 ft WNW swell and the energy climbing to 65-83, which is still weak to moderate, but the afternoon onshores will chop it up. Thursday the 27th is similar. Then, right at the end of the run, Saturday the 29th morning has a promising sign: dead calm wind, glassy conditions, and a 2.3 ft WNW swell. It’s still small, but glassy means clean. The energy is weak (28), but if you’re just after a glide, that’s your best bet for the whole forecast.

Honestly, there are no standout days here. Nothing is over 3.6 ft for the entire period, and the period never gets above 8 seconds, so we’re dealing with junky wind swell the whole time. The setup at Tel Baruch North Beach (coastal plain) is exposed, but with this little energy, it’s not going to break with any sort of power. If the wind stays onshore and the swell stays weak, this might be more interesting for the kite crew than the paddle crew. But with the glassy windows on the 23rd and 29th, I wouldn't write it off completely – these things can change.
