Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. We’ve got a look at the next couple of weeks for Punta Blanca, part of the Seven Sisters setup. Gotta be straight with you – it’s a lean period. We’re not looking at any proper pumping days, more a few windows where the conditions might just come together for a session if you’re keen and patient.
The water temperature is sitting at 64°, which is a bit colder than what’s normal for this time of year, so you’ll want a decent spring suit.
The first real glimmer of hope comes on the morning of Friday the 3rd of July. That’s our best bet in the whole run. We’ve got a 2ft SW groundswell with a very long 16-second period, and the wind is a clean cross-offshore breeze. That combination should clean things right up. The energy reading is 298, which is moderate. This is your standout window – it’s a reef and point setup, so that long period swell will wrap in nicely. Just know that crowds are sometimes a thing here.
After that, it gets pretty grim. From Friday afternoon right through until the morning of Monday the 6th, the wind swings cross or cross-onshore, and the wave state gets chopped up. It’s not worth paddling out for.
There’s a very marginal moment on Monday the 6th afternoon. The swell drops a tick to 2ft, but the period jumps to a very long 20 seconds from the SW. The wind is cross, the energy is moderate at 643, but the report calls it marginal due to tide or conditions. It’s a long shot for the dedicated.
Tuesday the 7th and Wednesday the 8th are a similar story. The swell bumps up to 3-3ft with 16-18 second periods, and the wind is mostly light cross-onshore in the mornings. The energy readings push into the 600-700 range, which is strong-ish for this size. But the surf quality is rated as poor or marginal. Could be worth a look if you’re desperate and the tide lines up, but don’t expect anything special.
From Thursday the 9th of July onward, it’s a slow decline. The energy readings drop from the 700s down to the 100s by the second week. The swell hangs around 1ft to 3ft, but the winds are mostly cross or cross-onshore, and the wave state is consistently poor or marginal. There’s nothing in there I’d call a standout. The second week – from about the 14th onwards – is flat and weak.
So to sum it up: if you want to get wet, your one and only real chance is the morning of Friday the 3rd of July. After that, it’s a long stretch of small, messy surf. Keep an eye on the forecasts because it tends not to stay this poor for too long.
Rusty.
