Port Blanc Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's cookin' for Port Blanc over the next couple of weeks.

Straight up, it's a bit of a mixed bag. We've got a decent pulse of swell rolling in, but the wind is gonna be the main character in this story for most of the run. The water's sitting at 68°, which is a touch warmer than we'd normally expect for this time of year.

The first real chance to get wet is Saturday morning, the 5th of September. That's our standout. We're looking at a nice 4ft groundswell from the west, with a solid 12-second period between sets. That's got some proper push. The real kicker here is the light easterly offshore breeze, which is gonna be cleaning it right up. It's an exposed spot, and the swell direction from the west is bang on for what Port Blanc likes. The wave energy is moderate (428). This is the window to be out there. It's advanced territory and crowds are only a sometimes thing, so you might have a few others out, but it should be worth it.

It won't last though. By Saturday afternoon the wind swings to a messy cross-onshore, and the quality drops off a cliff.

Sunday morning the 6th is a write-off too, with onshore winds. There's a window early on Monday the 7th, with a 3ft west-southwest swell and a very long 14-second period. That's a proper groundswell with heaps of energy (539). The catch? The wind is on it, so it's gonna be lumpy. Not ideal.

From there it's a long, frustrating stretch. From Monday afternoon the 7th all the way through to Sunday the 13th of September, it's a grim run. Onshore winds, strengthening breeze, and even a bit of rain on the 10th. The swell sticks around but the wind is just relentless, making it choppy and poor. This is the part where you might want to check the kite spot if you've got the gear, 'cause it's not pretty for a surfboard.

Things get quiet after that. A real lull sets in. Around Monday morning the 14th of September, we've got a tiny 2ft leftover groundswell, but it's glassy with an easterly offshore. The wave energy is weak (81). It's surfable, but only just. That's about it for the rest of the run. The swell fades to nothing, and while a couple of afternoons, like Thursday the 17th and Friday the 18th, have decent offshore winds, there's simply no swell to work with.

So, to boil it down: your one and only chance to score is first thing Saturday morning the 5th of September. After that, the wind blows it out for a week, and then the swell disappears. It's a tough outlook.
