The Lowdown

Alright crew, Rusty here again, but this time in feet and knots. Let’s talk about Seignosse - Les Casernes. The water is about 76°F, which is way warmer than usual for this time of year.

I’m not gonna sugarcoat it – the next 16 days are a real bummer. We’ve got a long stretch of tiny, weak swell and mostly onshore or cross-onshore wind. The first chance to actually paddle out is Thursday, August 6th in the morning. That’s a full seven days of nothing. That morning, we get a pulse of 4ft from the NW with moderate energy (182). The wind is a light cross-offshore breeze from the NE, so it’ll clean up nicely. It’s surfable, but nothing special.

After that, it’s back to small, weak, and choppy for another week. Swell barely gets above 3ft, the period is short at 6 to 7 seconds, and the energy drops into the double digits. It’s all cross-on or onshore wind, making it a mess.

If you’re waiting for something better, look to Friday, August 14th in the morning. That’s a week away. We’ve got 4ft from the NNW, the biggest of the outlook, with moderate energy (172). The wind is glassy – calm, offshore from the WNW – so it’ll be clean. The period is still short at 7 seconds, so it won’t have much push, but it’ll be the cleanest window we get. That’s the one to watch.

Saturday, August 15th morning also has glassy conditions, with 3ft from the NNW, but again, short-period. For a beginner-friendly spot like this, the biggest swell days over 5ft don’t show up, so it’s all manageable for the learning crew, but don’t expect any power.

The Thursday, August 6th morning is your best early bet. The Friday, August 14th morning is the real standout, but it’s a long way out. Keep an eye on it, but don’t get your hopes up too high.

Rusty.
