Oualidia Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright, this is a tough one to call. We’re looking at Oualidia for the next couple weeks, and to be honest, the outlook is pretty grim. The water is a whopping 66°F with a -6°F anomaly, which is way, way colder than usual for this time of year. That alone is a shock to the system.

We start off Wednesday the 9th with nothing. A tiny 4ft swell from the north, but a moderate cross-onshore wind of 12 mph is just chopping it all up. The combined energy is only 208 – weak sauce. This pattern of poor surf conditions, with messy cross-onshore wind and lumpy water, is gonna stick around. For day after day, it's the same story: moderate to fresh breeze coming from the north-northeast, ruining any chance of clean waves. The swell rarely cracks even 5ft, and when it does, the wind just shreds it.

There's a brief glimmer Sunday the 13th morning. We get a light offshore breeze from the east-northeast at 6 mph, which cleans things up nicely. The swell drops to 3ft from the NNW with a short 7-second period, and the energy is a low 159. The conditions are described as "surfable but very ordinary." For a patient beginner, maybe a few lumpy ones. Not worth getting excited about.

Monday the 14th morning is a similar story: clean conditions with a light east-northeast breeze, and a 3ft NW groundswell with a longer 12-second period. The energy is better at 320, and the wave shape should be a bit more defined. It’s still very average, but if you were desperate, this is probably the best you’ll see in the first week.

Then it gets even more bleak. From Tuesday the 15th through Monday the 21st, it's a wasteland. The wind is relentless, mostly cross-onshore, and the swell is small and weak. This is a long, frustrating gap.

Now, way out on Tuesday the 22nd of September, we finally see a spike in swell – a solid 7ft from the NNW with a 9-second period. The combined energy hits a massive 1061! That’s serious power. But the problem is the wind is a moderate cross-shore from the northeast at 12 mph, which will create a lot of chop. It’s rated as marginal, and for a spot that is sheltered and a mix of beach and reef, that kind of size with cross-shore wind will make it unruly. The morning of Wednesday the 24th is the real dark horse of the whole outlook. The swell is still 5ft from the NNW, the period is 9 seconds, but the wind goes glassy. That’s right – 3 mph from the north-northeast. The report even says "glassy." The energy is a moderate 370. This is the standout. For one fleeting morning, the conditions will be perfect for that point and reef setup. This over 5ft swell might be a bit much for a total beginner.

Long story short: don't hold your breath for the next week. The one chance for some proper, clean fun is the morning of Tuesday the 22nd if you're an expert looking for power through the chop, or the morning of Thursday the 24th for a clean, glassy session.
