Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
G’day, Rusty here. We’ve got a solid run of surf coming up at Ekas-Outside – nothing huge, but a consistent SSW groundswell keeps things rolling for over two weeks. The water’s sitting at 82°, which is just a touch warmer than normal for this time of year – not a big deal, just a little extra comfort.
Things kick off on Friday morning, July 3rd. The swell’s already there at 6 ft from the SSW, with a long 14-second period. Wind is light cross-off from the SE at 9 mph, and the wave energy is strong at 1299. It’s clean, it’s got power, and it’s a good option for intermediates – this is the standout for the first few days. The afternoon drops a bit in size to 5 ft, still decent but the tide might mess with it.
Saturday and Sunday, July 4th and 5th, keep the same theme – 6 ft to 6 ft, long period (15–16 seconds), and that steady cross-off SE breeze. Sunday morning is the pick of that pair: lighter winds at 9 mph and excellent conditions for experienced surfers. The energy is strong at 1619.
Monday July 6th shows a slight dip to 4 ft in the morning, but the period is a very long 17 seconds – that’s proper groundswell, which means better shaped waves but longer waits between sets. This swell will favour the reef setup here.
From Tuesday July 7th through to Wednesday July 15th, the swell holds steady between 4 ft and 7 ft, mostly in the 5 ft–6 ft range. The period stays long (15–17 seconds), and the wind remains cross-off from the SE or SSE, 9–19 mph. The energy stays strong, often well over 1000, peaking at 2377 on Wednesday afternoon July 8th. The standout in that stretch is Sunday morning July 12th – only 3 ft, but lighter winds at 9 mph and the swell direction is pure SW. It’s small but clean and workable.
By Thursday July 16th and Friday July 17th, the swell starts to ease a little – 3 ft to 5 ft, still with good period and light offshore influence. That Thursday morning is another highlight: 5 ft, 15-second period, 9 mph ESE wind – excellent conditions for experienced surfers.
The last call, Saturday July 18th, sees the swell drop to 4 ft in the morning with a very long 18-second period in the afternoon and strong wave energy at 1880. Light winds at 6 mph in the morning make it a clean, relaxed session for those who don’t mind the smaller stuff.
Overall, the best bet is Friday July 3rd morning for that combo of size, period, and light wind. If you want a properly long period swell, keep an eye on Monday July 6th and Saturday July 18th afternoon.
