Table - best surf conditions forecast for Ekas-Outside over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get stuck into what’s coming up for Ekas-Outside.
Alright, so the outlook for Ekas-Outside is a bit of a mixed bag. We’ve got a solid, consistent SSW swell train running through the forecast period, but the wind is going to be a constant companion. The water is sitting at 81°F, which is about average for this time of year, so no worries there.
The run starts on the morning of Sunday the 12th. We’re looking at a clean 3ft swell from the SW, with a proper 13-second period. The wind is a light ESE cross-off at 6 mph, so it’s going to be glassy and clean. The wave energy is a moderate 516. This is your best bet for the whole first week, honestly. It’s a beginner-friendly reef, so a great option for a fun session.
From Sunday afternoon onwards, things get a bit trickier. The wind picks up and stays cross-off, but it’s pretty fresh, blowing 12 to 19 mph most days. The swell keeps pulsing, peaking on the morning of Tuesday the 14th with a 6ft SSW swell at 17 seconds – that’s a long-period groundswell, and the energy jumps to a strong 2349. The wind is still SE 12 mph, so it’s manageable but not perfect. The waves get bigger, with a 7ft SSW swell on the afternoon of the 14th, and then 7ft on the morning of Wednesday the 15th. This is getting into expert territory for size, and the wind is up. The consistency is fine, but the quality is being held back by the breeze.
Thursday the 16th is a bit of a drop-off, with 5ft SSW swell and the wind still strong. The energy is still moderate-to-strong (1413). The pattern continues through Friday and Saturday; the swell stays around 5ft to 5ft, but the wind is a solid 19 to 22 mph. It’s surfable, but it’s going to be a raw, windy affair. The setup is a reef, so it’s not ideal for kite surfing, but it’s not gonna be the cleanest paddle either.
There’s a bit of a lull on the 23rd. The waves dip to 4ft to 4ft with poor conditions, so you might wanna give that day a miss.
Now, the second week starts to get interesting again. Look at the 20th of July – Monday morning – we’re seeing an 8ft SSW swell at 17 seconds, with a massive energy reading of 3702. That’s a serious amount of power. The wind is still SE 19 mph, so it’s going to be powerful but a bit lumpy. That’s probably the standout for the big-wave hunters, but it’s for experts only.
Then the 25th of July (Saturday) and 26th of July (Sunday) are another strong pulse. Saturday morning shows 7ft SSW at 18 seconds (energy 3375), and Saturday afternoon builds to 8ft at 17 seconds (energy 3619). The wind is a little lighter, 12-16 mph, so it’s a bit cleaner than the earlier big days. Sunday the 26th is similar, with 8ft SSW swell and a lighter 9-12 mph cross-off breeze. The morning of the 27th (Monday) drops back to a clean 6ft with a gentle 9 mph breeze, which could be a nice, powerful finish to the run.
The standout for the whole period is Sunday morning, 12th July. 3ft, 13 seconds, light wind, clean. It’s the easiest, most fun window. For the big stuff, the 20th and the 25th-26th are the heavy hitters, but they come with strong wind and are for experienced surfers only.
Rusty.
