Table - best surf conditions forecast for Ekas-Outside over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s break it down. Only one break on the menu: Ekas-Outside. It’s a reef, and this whole 16-day window is pretty much a non-stop diet of south to south-west swell, which is exactly what this place likes – the sweet spot is from the SSW. Water temp is nothing wild, so about normal for this time of year.
We start off with a big hit of energy. Thursday morning the 9th of July is showing a 7 ft SSW swell, with a really long 15-second period, and the combined energy is a strong 2178. The wind though, it’s blowing hard from the ESE at 16 mph, cross-off. It’s called "clean" but the numbers don’t lie – it’s a marginal call. That size is already expert-only, and the wind is gonna put a chop on the face. Not a beginner’s day.
Friday the 10th is more of the same. Swell edges down to 6 ft from the SW, still a long 16 seconds, energy around 1765. Wind is stronger though – 19 mph from the ESE. Clean, but that fresh breeze is going to make it a battle just to get out.
Saturday the 11th morning gives a little relief. Swell drops to 6 ft SW, 15-second period, energy 1525, and the wind backs off to 12 mph. Still cross-off, but that moderate breeze is a bit more user-friendly. It’s still over the 5 ft mark, so keep the beginners on the beach, but the more experienced crew will find something.
Sunday the 12th morning is where we get our first real window. Swell eases to 4 ft from the SW, 13 seconds, energy at 562 (moderate), and the wind drops right down to just 9 mph from the SE. And we get the "expect good surf conditions" tag – that’s rare in this run. That light breeze should keep the reef glassy. This is the best option of the first week.
Monday the 13th morning is a smaller echo, 3 ft SW swell, 13 seconds, energy 558, wind 9 mph. Another "good surf" call. Smaller, but clean and easy.
Then the quality dips. From Monday afternoon through to Saturday the 18th, the scores are low, with the wind mostly in the moderate to fresh range. Swell builds again on Tuesday the 14th to 6 ft SSW with 18 seconds – energy 2103 – but the wind is 16 mph. Lots of power, but messy.
The standout of the whole forecast is Saturday the 18th morning. Swell comes back to 5 ft from the SW, 15-second period, energy 1151, and the wind is a gentle 9 mph from the SE. And that "expect very good surf conditions" label pops up – the only time it does. This is the session to aim for. Light wind, solid groundswell, and a reef that will turn that long period into proper, walled-up lines. It’s fun for everyone from intermediate up.
After that, Sunday the 19th has a 6 ft SW swell, but wind is back to 12-16 mph. Still cross-off, but not as clean.
Then into the final days, Monday the 20th afternoon has a 6 ft SW with a very long 18-second period and a massive energy reading of 2832 – that’s a serious groundswell. Wind though is a fresh 22 mph from the SE. Clean on the face, but side-off and tough. That long period on a reef will give deep, fast lines for the experts only.
Tuesday the 21st keeps the 7 ft SSW swell, energy at 2472, but again the wind is up. The whole run is consistent – it never really goes flat – but the wind is the constant spoiler.
Best call: Saturday the 18th morning. That light wind and the "very good" tag make it the clear winner. For the first week, Sunday the 12th morning is your clean, smaller option.
There’s no long flat spell, but the quality is all about the wind. Beginners need to pick the smaller, lighter wind days. Everyone else, just be ready for the wind to be your paddle partner.
Rusty.
