The Lowdown
Alright, let’s just get straight to it. Looking ahead over the next couple of weeks, and it’s a bleak picture. There’s no good surf on the radar for the entire 16-day forecast. I’m talking zero days worth paddling out for. It’s a real dry spell.
The whole first week is a total write-off. We’ve got weak, short-period swell and the wind is stuck in that cross-onshore groove, which just tears every wave apart. You’re looking at choppy, lumpy conditions with barely any energy. For instance, the swell on Thursday is only about a foot and a half, and the energy is down in the dumps. It’s just a lot of nothing.
The water is about 81° Fahrenheit, which is pretty normal for this time of year. The only thing that might offer a slight break is a lighter wind on the morning of the 17th, but the swell is still too small and weak to do anything with it.
Heading into the second week, around the 14th and 15th, we see a bit more push in the water—the energy jumps up to the 200s and the period stretches out a bit. It’s more organized, but that persistent cross-onshore wind is still going to ruin it. It’s just going to be a bigger, messier wave, still no good for surfing.
So, there you have it. No solid options in this window. It’s a dead stretch. Keep an eye on the charts, because it can’t stay this poor forever, and a change is always possible. But for now, the surfboard can stay in the car.
