The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s take a look at what’s cooking for Capo Bianco on Elba over the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, it’s a pretty quiet stretch for this point break. The forecast shows a long run of flat or tiny, poor-quality surf, with the first real chance of a wave not showing up until Friday, July 31st. That’s a solid gap of nearly two weeks with nothing worth paddling out for. The swell energy is basically non-existent, with most days registering a combined energy of just 0‑3, and nowhere near the kind of grunt you’d want for a proper session.
The only half-decent window pops up on the afternoon of Friday, July 31st. We’ll see a small pulse of swell from the WNW at 3 ft, with a period of 8 seconds. The combined energy climbs to 85, which is still weak, but it’s the best we’ll get. The wind swings offshore from the S at 12 mph, so the lineup should be clean. This is a tricky spot that rarely breaks, so it being on the cards is notable, but the swell is small and the conditions are only rated as “very ordinary.” The water temperature is about average for the time of year, so no surprises there.
Before that, the closest we get to anything is a tiny 1 ft on Sunday, July 19th, with glassy conditions in the afternoon, but the energy is only 7, and it’s just not enough to get excited about. The rest of the period is plagued by onshore winds, cross-off breezes, or flat spells.
If you’re desperate for a paddle, the 31st is your only chance, but keep your expectations low. Otherwise, it’s a blank run that’s more normal for this area in summer. Forecasts can change, but right now, it’s a waiting game.
Rusty.
