The Lowdown
Alright, let's talk Bogliasco. It's a sandbar spot, gets a bit of south exposure, and right now, it's completely flat. The first record is Wednesday the 9th with a tiny 1ft of junk windswell from the SSW, period only 4 seconds, combined energy a puny 6. Wind is onshore from the SSE at 9 mph and there's a risk of thunderstorms. Total write-off. Honestly, the full 16-day forecast is a bust.
Water temp is 28°, which is way, way warmer than usual for this time of year – over 5° warmer than average. Really unusual.
Thursday the 10th morning shows a bump to 2ft from the SSW, period 6 seconds, combined energy 22. Wind is from the NNE at 9 mph, cross-offshore, so it looks clean, but the swell is too weak to bother with. Thursday afternoon goes glassy, but the swell drops to 1ft and energy to 7. Still a no-go.
Friday the 11th has a 1ft sliver in the morning with light offshore wind, but the period is 4 seconds and energy 7. Afternoon gets cross-onshore. Not worth it.
From Saturday the 14th right through to Tuesday the 24th, it’s essentially flat. We’re talking zero swell for days on end, with only a few tiny 0.3ft to 0.7ft readings of nothing. A few mornings have clean, light offshore wind, but without any waves, it’s just a pretty, flat ocean.
Tuesday the 22nd morning shows a gentle offshore breeze at 9 mph, but no swell at all. The 23rd and 24th are the same story – clean winds, but not a ripple of surf.
There are simply no waves to ride in the entire 16-day window. No standouts, no recommendations. A dry spell like this is pretty normal for Bogliasco when the south swells don’t show up. Flat and clean is the story, and for a surfer, that’s just a day to stay on land.
