The Lowdown

Alright, let’s get real about Bogliasco. I’ve looked at the whole 16 days, and I gotta be straight with you—it’s a tough stretch. The swell is tiny, the energy is weak, and we’re scraping the bottom of the barrel for anything rideable. There’s a big gap of nothing from the start all the way through to the 26th of July, with barely a ripple. After that, we get a few pulses, but nothing that’s gonna get the heart racing.

For the first real bit of hope, we’re looking at Monday the 27th of July. The morning brings a clean 3ft swell from the southwest with a period of 8 seconds, and a light offshore breeze from the north. The combined energy hits 192 (moderate), which is the best we’ll see. The water is a whopping 84°F, which is 8°F warmer than normal—super unusual, like swimming in a bath. But the waves are small, and it’s a sandbar setup that’s fairly exposed to the south. The crowd factor is “sometimes,” so you might have a few others out. This is the standout, but it’s more of a longboard or funboard session than a full-on surf.

After that, the rest of the outlook is a total drag. Tuesday the 28th through the 4th of August is all tiny swells under 3ft, with periods mostly under 7 seconds, and energy readings that barely crack double digits. Winds are mostly offshore or glassy in the mornings, which is a tease, but the swell is just too weak. The 2nd of August Sunday morning has a 2ft southwest swell with a 6-second period and a gentle offshore, but it’s still a marginal wave. Honestly, this stretch is more about enjoying the warm water and clean conditions than scoring any real waves.

To sum it up: Monday the 27th of July morning is your best bet, and it’s not a world-beater. Everything else is a write-off. If you’re a beginner, the small stuff is safe, but if you’re looking for power, you’re out of luck.

Rusty.
