The Lowdown
Alright, it's Rusty here. Let's get straight into it. I've looked at the 16-day window for this spot, and I gotta be honest with you – it's a tough one. For the entire period from now through to the 11th of September, we are looking at a flat spell with no decent surf to speak of. That's a solid 16-day gap with nothing worth paddling out for.
The only break on offer is Bogliasco, a sandbar setup that's exposed to the south. The water temperature is sitting at 81°F, which is 6°F warmer than it should be for this time of year. That's a very unusual anomaly, the sea is feeling a lot more like a bathtub than usual.
The highest combined energy we see all stretch is a weak 231, and that's on the morning of Saturday the 29th of August with a tiny 1.3m swell – about 4 feet. Even then, the period is a short 6 seconds, so it's weak and crumbly, and the cross-shore wind won't help. The whole run is riddled with poor surf conditions, tiny swell, and messy wind. There's just no quality on offer here. For a break that's fairly consistent, this is an unusually blank run. It's the kind of spell where forecasts can change, but right now we've got nothing to work with.
Honestly, for a beach and sandbar setup with this much weak chop and onshore breeze, it looks more like a session for the kite surfers than a paddle surfer.
