The Lowdown
Alright, let’s break this one down. Bogliasco is a sandbar break that can fire up now and then, but this 16-day window is looking sparse. The water temp is a warm 84°F, and it’s running 8°F above normal for the time of year – that’s very unusual, so you’ll be surfing in basically bathwater.
From Wednesday July 22nd through Sunday July 26th, there’s nothing doing. Tiny waves if any, with combined swell energy in the single digits – 3 (3) on the 22nd, just 1 (1) on the 25th. Winds are messy, cross-on or onshore, and every report says “poor surf conditions.” Save your energy.
Monday July 27th is the only glimmer. A 2ft SW swell with an 8-second period, energy at 61 (61), and a light cross-off wind from the NE at 10 km/h. The surface should be clean, but it’s still only “surfable but very ordinary.” That’s the high point of the first week. Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 29th are small and clean but barely breaking.
From Thursday July 30th all the way to Sunday August 2nd, it’s flat. Glassy mornings, no waves. Monday August 3rd and Tuesday 4th are the same story.
Wednesday August 5th morning brings a 2ft SSE swell, period 5 seconds, energy of 21 (21), with glassy conditions and no wind. The period is short, so the waves will be weak and crumbly. Thursday 6th is similar but even smaller. The second week offers no real standout.
Best bet? Monday July 27th morning. That’s the only time with clean conditions and a bit of waist-high swell. But with the overall low energy and tiny surf, much of this period looks better for a kite than a paddle board. A long flat spell is just part of the deal here sometimes.
