The Lowdown
Alright, grab a coffee and settle in, because it's a bit of a waiting game for us here.
Look, I gotta be straight with you: the next couple of weeks are looking pretty flat. We've got a long stretch ahead, from now through to the middle of next week, where there's just nothing doing. We're talking about several days of barely a ripple, so if you're jonesing for a wave, you might want to take up fishing for a bit. The water temp is right about where it should be for this time of year, so at least it’ll be a nice paddle.
The only real glimmer of hope comes on Saturday, August 15th. The morning is your window. We’ve got a bit of a pulse coming in from the SSW, pushing the swell up to about 4 ft. The period is a short 7 seconds, so it'll be a bit crumbly and lacking that real punch, but it's all we've got. The combined energy is just breaking into the moderate range at 106, so there's a little bit of push there. The big win? NNE wind at 3 mph, making it glassy. That offshore breeze will keep the surface clean as a whistle. We’ll be looking at Bogliasco – it's a sandbar, so don't expect perfection, but with clean conditions and that little bump of swell, it’ll be the best we see.
Before that, Saturday, August 8th morning also shows a bit of potential. A 2 ft SW swell with a 6 mph offshore wind from the NNE means it'll be clean. The energy is weak, right at 70, so it's going to be small and weak, but definitely surfable.
And way out, on Monday, August 17th, there’s another pulse of SW swell, 3 ft with an 8 second period and a clean offshore wind. The energy is moderate at 127, but it’s a long way off, so keep your fingers crossed it holds together.
So, bottom line: if you’ve got to get wet, pencil in the morning of the 15th. It's not going to be epic, but it’ll be the cleanest and most rideable we’ll see in a while.
