Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's going on in our little corner of the coast.
Honestly, it's a tough spell ahead. We’re looking at a long, dry run with next to no surf for the better part of two weeks. The first proper chance of anything rideable doesn't show up until Monday the 28th of July, and even then it's nothing to write home about. From now until then, there's a big gap of flat, small, or just messy conditions.
Let’s walk through it. Right now, and for the next several days, we're stuck with tiny, weak swells. The water is running at a balmy 81°, which is way warmer than normal for this time of year – feels like a bath out there, but there's no wave action to enjoy it.
The first tiny glimmer of hope comes on Monday morning the 28th of July at Bogliasco. We've got a little bump of 3ft from the SSW, with a period of 5 seconds. The energy is weak at just (75), and it’s not going to be breaking with any power. The afternoon cleans up to glassy which is a positive, so you might find a grovelly little wave on the sandbar. But it's 'surfable but very ordinary.'
Then Tuesday the 29th of July morning holds the best of a bad bunch. Same spot, Bogliasco. The swell picks up to 5ft from the SSW, period stretches to 7 seconds, and we get moderate wave energy (237). It's glassy in the morning with that light offshore northeasterly, so conditions will be clean. That's your best chance to get wet, but keep your expectations in check. This is the standout, but only because everything else is so weak. It’s a small, clean option.
The only real highlight? Tuesday morning. 5ft of clean SSW swell at Bogliasco. That's where I'd be if I was desperate for a paddle. The afternoon looks like it goes onshore, so don't sleep in. Otherwise, it’s a long wait for something to happen.
