The Lowdown
Hey, it's Rusty. Let me walk you through what the next couple of weeks look like for us.
Honestly, it's a brutal stretch on the surf front. We've got a massive gap with no surf at all. From now, all the way through until the 19th of August, it's flat. Just flat. The mornings will be clean and glassy with offshore breezes, but there's simply no swell to push. The water is around 83° Fahrenheit, which is feeling much warmer than it should be for this time of year.
The first sign of life, and I use that term loosely, shows up on the morning of August 19th. A tiny pulse from the SSW at 1 foot, with a short period of 5 seconds and basically no energy (5). The wind will be offshore from the North at 9 mph, so it'll be clean, but the waves will be too small to ride.
The rest of the outlook stays grim. Through the 20th and 22nd, we see more tiny, weak pulses from the SW and SE. The wave heights are around 1 foot, the periods are short, and the winds are mostly onshore or side-shore. The morning of the 23rd has a moment of dead calm and glassy water, but the swell is still a paltry 0.3 feet from the SW with a period of 7 seconds.
There is not a single standout session in this entire forecast. This is a lean period. Sometimes you just have to wait it out. The forecasts can flip, but right now, there's no reason to paddle out. Save your energy.
