Bogliasco Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on offer for the next couple of weeks.

Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you: it’s a tough run for Bogliasco. We’re looking at a long, dry spell with barely a ripple to get excited about. The water is sitting at 84°, which is a solid 8° warmer than usual for this time of year – that’s very unusual, feels like bathwater.

The first real chance to even get the board wet comes late on the 27th of July, Monday morning. We’ll see a tiny 3 ft swell from the SSW with a period of just 6 seconds. The combined energy of all the swells is only 85 (weak). It’s not much, but at least the wind is offshore from the N, so it’ll be clean. The report says "surfable waves but very ordinary conditions," so don’t expect much.

After that, it’s a whole lot of nothing. We’ve got a big gap from Monday afternoon all the way through to the 7th of August with nothing but flat, weak, or messy conditions. There are a few glassy mornings, like the 30th of July, 31st of July, and the 1st of August, but the swell is effectively zero, with combined energy values of 1 or 3. It’s flat, plain and simple.

The best of a bad bunch is probably that Monday morning on the 27th. It’s the only period where the swell height and a clean offshore wind line up. At 3 ft it’s tiny, but for a sandbar break like Bogliasco, it’s the only thing that passes for a surf. The wind is light from the NNW, which is offshore, so the surface will be clean. The swell direction is from the SSW, which matches the optimum direction for this spot. It’s not a stand-out, it’s just the only option.

If you’re a beginner, the swell never gets over 5 ft, so it’s safe. But honestly, there’s nothing here to get excited about. For the rest of the window, you’re looking at flat spells and light onshore breezes. It’s a real bummer.

Stay patient, and keep an eye on the forecasts. It tends not to stay this poor for long.
