The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for our stretch of coast.
Honestly, looking ahead, it’s a pretty quiet picture. The next couple of weeks are going to be a real struggle to find anything rideable. We've got a long stretch where there's just nothing doing, so patience is going to be key.
We start off on Tuesday the 14th with tiny, weak energy – the combined energy is only a measly (4). The swell's barely there at 0.7ft from the SSE with a short 6-second period. The wind is a light cross-offshore in the morning, but with zero wave power, you're just floating.
Wednesday the 15th has nicer conditions, with a glassy morning and a light offshore from the NE, but still just a 1ft lump from the SSW. It's clean, but heartbreakingly small. The combined energy is still only (8). This theme carries on through the rest of the week and into the next. You'll see glassy mornings with tiny 0.3ft to 1ft waves, and afternoons that get a bit chopped up with onshore breezes. On Sunday the 19th, the morning has a clean 2ft swell from the SW with a light N offshore, and the combined energy creeps up to (29), which is about the best we'll see, but still very weak.
After that Monday the 20th, things drop right off. From Tuesday the 21st through to Tuesday the 28th, the combined energy is often at (0) or just (1). There are multiple days with no swell height recorded at all – just flat calm with offshore or glassy winds. It’s a real blank run.
The only light at the end of the tunnel is Wednesday the 29th. Things start to pick up a little. We've got a 1ft swell from the SW with a period jumping to 8 seconds, and the combined energy hits (20). The morning wind is a clean offshore from the N. It’s not exactly firing, but compared to the weeks prior, it’s the closest thing to a wave we’ll see. Keep an eye on that morning session on the 29th.
In these weak conditions, the main spot, Bogliasco, is a sandbar. With this tiny swell and the right wind it's just not going to break with any form. Given the persistent lack of wave energy and the poor surf quality across the board, there are no standouts here. Honestly, for most of this period, the conditions look more interesting for a paddle than a surf.
Signing off, Rusty.
