The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. I’m not gonna sugarcoat it – this is a tough one for the Bogliasco area. The whole 16-day window is looking flat, and I mean, really flat. We’ve got a solid gap from the start, with no real surf on offer until the middle of the second week. The first week is a write-off, with nothing but tiny, weak bumps and a lot of calm, glassy mornings that look pretty but won’t get you wet. The energy is just not there. The combined swell energy barely cracks double digits most days, often sitting at 0 or 4 (weak). It’s a frustrating start.
For the first real highlight, we have to look all the way to Tuesday morning, 18 August. Even then, it’s marginal. The best option is Bogliasco (sandbar), where we’ll see a tiny 2ft swell from the SSW, with a period of 5 seconds. The wind is a light cross-offshore from the NE at 3 mph, keeping it clean. The combined swell energy is still low at 33 (weak). Honestly, this is not a day for a proper session; it’s a knee-high dribble. But it’s the only thing that’s even remotely ridable in the whole forecast. If you’re desperate for a paddle, you could get a goofy-foot little left on the sandbar, but don’t expect much.
That’s your lot. The rest of the period is a blank. It’s a rare run of truly poor conditions for the area. Still, it tends not to stay this flat for long, so keep an eye on the charts.
Rusty.
