Alright Rusty here. Let’s talk about Bogliasco. Mate, I’ll be straight with you – the next couple of weeks are a total bust. We’ve got a proper flat spell on our hands. From now, right through to the morning of Friday the 18th of July, there’s nothing worth paddling out for. We’re talking about days of nothing, just lake-calm conditions with tiny, weak dribbles that aren’t going to get you wet. You might see a ripple here and there, but it’s all poor surf conditions. The water is sitting at a very unusual 79°, which is much warmer than normal for the time of year – feels more like a bath than the Mediterranean.
Finally, on the morning of Friday the 18th of July, we get a tiny pulse. It’s weak, but it’s something. The swell is a small 3ft from the SW, with a short period of 6 seconds, so it’s just a weak, soft windswell. The combined energy is only 61, so it’s barely got any push. The saving grace is the wind: it’s glassy, dead calm. That means the surface will be clean, even if the waves are tiny. For a beginner, it might be a fun little splash about, but it’s not going to get your heart racing. The afternoon sees the swell bump up to 4ft from the SW, but the onshore wind ruins it straight away.
Look, this is one of those tough runs where the forecast shows nothing. A blank stretch like this isn’t unusual for the area, but it won’t stay this way forever. Keep an eye on it.
