The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Looks like we're in for a quiet stretch with only one brief window of decent waves. Let's get into it.
Right now, there's nothing doing. We've got a long run of flat or near-flat conditions stretching from today through to the 17th of August. For over a week, the surf is essentially a no-go, with minimal energy in the water and mostly onshore or cross-off winds spoiling any tiny dribbles. You'll be looking at a glassy morning or a clean offshore breeze, but with zero swell to work with, it's just a sunbathe on the beach.
The first and only real highlight appears on the morning of Tuesday, the 18th of August at Bogliasco (sandbar) . We get a sudden pulse of about 5ft swell from the SSW, with a period of 6 seconds and moderate wave energy (348). The real kicker here is the wind: glassy conditions. That means clean, smooth faces with no chop. It's not a huge swell, but for this area after such a dry spell, it’s a welcome sight. That 5ft size is a bit much for total beginners, so intermediate and above will get the best of it. The break is fairly consistent and sometimes crowded, so get in early if you can to beat the crowd that'll sniff out these clean peaks. Things turn in the afternoon as the wind shifts onshore, so the morning session is your one and only window.
After that Tuesday morning, things fade back to junk. The rest of the week shows smaller, weaker swell with onshore winds and poor conditions.
