The Lowdown
Alright folks, let’s get into it. To be straight with you, the 16-day outlook for the region is a quiet one. I’ve had a look at what’s coming, and honestly, there’s no surf worth chasing for the vast majority of this period. It’s a long gap of small, weak waves and poor conditions.
From Wednesday 15 July right through to the end of the month, it’s a real struggle. The swell is tiny, mostly under 2ft, and the energy is minimal. The best of a bad bunch might be a couple of mornings, but the wave comment tells the story- it’s just poor surf conditions across the board. There’s a gap of several days, especially around the 21st to the 25th, where there’s next to nothing at all.
The only standout that shows a flicker of something is Bogliasco on Tuesday morning 28 July. The swell is a modest 4ft from the SW, with a short period of 6 seconds, so it’s not going to be groundswell with any real punch. The combined energy hits a moderate 125, which is a bit more than the rest of the month. The wind is light and cross-shore, so it won’t be clean perfection, but it’s not a complete write-off. The water temperature is a remarkable 82°, which is a massive 8° warmer than average for the time of year – very unusual, so you can leave the wetsuit at home.
But overall, this is a blank run. It’s one of those stretches where the Mediterranean just goes flat. Forecasts can change though, so keep an eye on it, but don’t hold your breath.
