Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's talk about what's happening at Bogliasco. I've got to be straight with you – for the next couple of weeks, it's looking pretty flat and quiet. The swell energy is extremely low, with combined energy readings barely cracking double digits most days. We're talking about a long stretch of minimal, short-period swell that's just not going to produce much worth getting wet for.
Looking at the first few days, from Monday the 6th through to the end of the first week, it's a tough watch. Swell heights are hovering around 0.7ft to 1ft with periods of just 4-6 seconds – that's windswell, pure and simple, with no push behind it. The combined energy is weak, ranging from 1 to 15. Winds are light and variable, with a few glassy mornings in there, but even those clean conditions can't polish a turd. Tuesday morning the 7th, for instance, we have glassy conditions but only 0.7ft of swell – it's not surfable. Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th might show a tiny pulse from the SSE, but we're still looking at ankle-snappers at best. Honestly, it's more of a swimming and sunbathing forecast than a surf one.
We then hit a dead zone from Wednesday the 15th through to Thursday the 16th, where there's absolutely no swell recorded. The ocean goes totally flat. That's a full week and a half with basically nothing on offer for a surfer.
The only faint glimmer of hope comes way out on Sunday the 19th of July. The morning shows a bump to 1ft from the SW with a period of 5 seconds, and combined energy finally climbs to 8. The wind is cross-off from the NNE at only 3 mph, so conditions should be clean. This is the best the whole forecast gets, but let's be realistic – 1ft at 5 seconds is barely rideable on a longboard. It's a standout only because everything else is so poor. The crowd factor here is listed as "sometimes," so you might have a few other hopeful souls out there on logs, but that's the only game in town.
For the whole 16-day outlook, there's no real size, no power, and nothing that gets the heart racing. The water temperature is about average for the time of year, with no anomalies reported, so at least it won't be freezing while you're sitting on your board looking at nothing.
Stay patient. It'll turn around eventually.
Rusty.
