The Lowdown
Alright crew, Rusty with the lowdown for Bogliasco. Gotta be honest, it’s a pretty quiet picture for the next couple weeks.
We’re staring down a big gap with next to nothing on offer from Saturday the 12th all the way through to around Thursday the 24th of September. It’s tiny, gutless slop – wave heights barely push 1 ft, and most of the time it’s dead flat with zero energy. You’ll see some clean mornings with that offshore north breeze, but without any swell, it’s just a glassy pond. The water’s running at a balmy 81°, which is much warmer than average for the season.
The only real shot at a wave comes on Friday the 25th of September. The morning is the pick: a clean 2 ft swell from the SSE, with a short 6-second period, under a light offshore breeze out of the NNE. The combined energy hits a modest 28 – weak, but it’s the best we get. By the afternoon it goes glassy, though the swell drops to about 2 ft.
This spot is usually fairly consistent, so a run this long with no surf is a bit of a dud. Forecasts can turn, so don’t write it off completely, but for now, Friday the 25th is your only real option for a few knee-high rollers. It’s a sandbar, so don’t expect perfect shape, but at least the wind will be right. For everything else, leave the board in the car.
