Bogliasco Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright folks, it’s Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you: if you’re looking to paddle out at Bogliasco over the next couple of weeks, you’re going to be staring at a whole lot of flat, calm water. The next 16 days are pretty much a write-off for any decent surf. We’ve got a long, dry spell with no real energy to speak of.

For the first few days, from Sunday the 30th of August right through to the end of the first week of September, the swell is tiny and confused. We’re looking at ankle-biters at best, with a little 3ft SW swell showing up on the Sunday morning, but the period is a short, weak 6 seconds and the combined energy is a pathetic 47. That’s barely enough to roll a pebble. The water is a very warm 81°, about 7° warmer than usual for this time of year, which is pretty unusual—feels like a bath out there, but unfortunately, that’s all the excitement you’re getting.

The wind is mostly light and variable, so the conditions are clean, but there’s just nothing to ride. The setup is a sandbar, and it’s not even breaking. There’s a gap of nearly a week with zero surf on offer, and even when we get into the second week, the little pulses of swell from the SSW and SSE are barely registering. The best we see is a 2ft swell on Saturday the 5th of September, but again, short period (6 seconds) and weak energy (25). It’s just not going to stand up.

We get a few glassy mornings, like Thursday the 3rd of September afternoon, but with no swell, it’s just a flat, pretty lake. The story is the same all the way through to the 14th of September: tiny waves, long periods of nothing, and the occasional ripple that might give you a gentle rock. There’s no standout session here, no hidden gem. The whole 16-day window is a dud. The only good news is that with energy this low, the spot is very consistent in its inconsistency—it tends to go quiet, so this isn’t a shock. Forecasts can change, but right now, leave the boards at home.
