The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on offer for the Bogliasco stretch.
Honestly, looking over the next two weeks, it's a pretty flat and quiet spell. We’re staring down the barrel of a long dry run. For the first five days, from Saturday the 5th right through to Wednesday the 9th of September, you can hang the board up. The combined wave energy is sitting at zero or near-zero, with tiny little wind slop at best. Not worth paddling out for.
There’s a brief flicker of hope on the morning of Thursday, the 10th. We’ll see a small pulse of swell bump up to 3ft from the SSW, with a period of 6 seconds. The combined energy hits 87 (weak), so there's a little bit of juice, but not much. The good news is the wind is a light cross-offshore from the NNE, keeping it clean. It’s not a standout by any means, but it’s the most surfable window in the whole forecast. After that, it fades back to tiny, poor surf for the remainder of the period.
For the rest of the run, from the 11th through to the 20th, we are looking at wave heights barely breaking 0.3ft to 1ft with energy readings in the low single digits. The wind does go clean and offshore a few mornings, especially on the 11th, 13th, 14th, and 18th, but there's just no swell to work with. You’d be scratching for anything rideable.
So, the best on offer is a very average Thursday morning, the 10th. It’s a small, weak window, but it's the only time there’s enough water moving to bother. For beginners, that 3ft is totally fine. The water temp is about average for the time of year. Just don't expect much.
Rusty.
