The Lowdown

Alright, let me tell you how it’s looking for Silencios. To be straight with you, the next 16 days are a bit of a grind. We’ve got a long stretch of marginal to poor surf ahead, so if you're looking for a quick fix, you might be waiting a while. The first few days are basically a write-off, with small, weak, and messy conditions. We’re looking at a real gap of over a week before anything remotely decent shows up, so don't hold your breath.

The first spark of life comes on Monday, August 17th. That morning is the standout of the whole window. The swell is still modest at 4.3ft from the southwest, but the magic is in the conditions. Glassy, light winds, and a long 14-second period. That’s a proper groundswell, which this reef break will love. The energy is ramping up, which is moderate, but the quality should be there. This is the one to pencil in. It’s not huge, but it’ll be clean and lined up. The crowd factor is a real thing here, as it’s inconsistent, so you might get lucky with a few less bodies when it does pulse.

Before that, the 14th and 15th have some pulse in the water, with energy climbing, but the winds are cross-onshore and it’s just not going to be as clean. The swell is there, but the surface will be chopped up. It’s a no-go for me.

The rest of the second week just fades out. By the 21st and 22nd, the energy is pathetic. The swell is tiny and the period is short. It’s a full stop. The water temp is running much warmer than normal at 69.6°, which is a pleasant surprise, but won’t make up for the lack of waves.

So, overall, we’ve got one clear winner here. Monday morning, the 17th. Everything else is a mission in disappointment. It’s a long wait, but that one window could be worth it if you’re keen.
