Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, this is Rusty. Let’s take a look at what’s on offer.
The only spot in this forecast is Shipwrecks, over at Nusa Lembongan. It’s a proper reef break for the advanced guys, and it breaks consistently. You won’t have it to yourself, though—crowds are around sometimes.
We start this Friday, July 3rd, with some clean conditions. You’re looking at a 1.8m SSW swell, moderate energy (1196), and a gentle offshore breeze that’ll keep the lines tidy. The water is at 82°, which is a touch warmer than usual for this time of year. Saturday, July 4th, is the day to circle. The swell holds at 1.7m to 1.8m from the SSW, the period bumps up to 16 seconds—real groundswell—and the energy jumps to 1686. The wind stays offshore and moderate. That is the best day of the first week: clean, powerful, and the reef will be singing.
Sunday morning, July 5th, is still good with 1.6m and offshore wind, but the afternoon turns cross-off and gets a bit bumpy. Monday and Tuesday, July 6th and 7th, drop to 1.1m to 1.3m, but they’re still clean with offshore wind—good for a bigger board.
Then Wednesday, July 8th, gets serious. The afternoon fires up with 1.9m SSW swell at 16 seconds, and the combined energy hits 2073—that is strong, powerful stuff. With offshore wind, it’s going to be pumping hard. Experts only.
Things settle after that. We get smaller, clean surf through the 9th and 10th, dropping to 1.1m and even 0.9m by Sunday the 12th. On Monday, July 13th, we get a 20-second groundswell at only 0.8m—long waits between sets, but clean and offshore.
From the 14th to the 16th, we’re back in the 1.3m to 1.5m range with moderate offshore winds. Nice, clean, and consistent. On Friday, July 17th, there’s a brief 1.6m spike, but the period is a short 8 seconds—it’ll feel weak. Saturday the 18th looks rough: 1.5m swell with strong offshore winds at 35 km/h. The conditions are marginal, and the wind will blow the surface to bits. That day is more for kite surfers than paddlers.
Bottom line: the first week is where the quality lives. Saturday the 4th is the most balanced, clean, and consistent. Wednesday the 8th is the biggest and most powerful. After that, it’s smaller and good for a cruise.
Rusty.
