Alright, let’s break it down. The next couple of weeks are looking pretty solid around here, with a long run of clean, offshore winds and a steady stream of SSW groundswell. The water’s sitting at 82°F, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so that’s a nice little bonus.
First up, Sunday the 5th morning at Shipwrecks (Nusa Lembongan). We’ve got a clean 6ft SSW groundswell with a 14-second period – that’s proper groundswell, plenty of energy, and the light ESE offshore breeze is going to have those reef waves looking glassy. This is a consistent, advanced reef set-up, and with a light breeze, it’s going to be clean and chunky. Crowds can be around sometimes, but for a Sunday morning like this, it’s going to be well worth it.
Sunday afternoon the wind picks up to a moderate cross-off, so the quality dips – still surfable at 5ft, but the morning is the real winner.
Monday the 6th, same spot, both morning and afternoon see 4ft SSW swell but with a very long 17-second period. That’s a lot of push for a modest height – perfect for a reef like this where the long interval lines will stand up nicely. Winds are moderate offshore, so expect clean, lined-up surf.
Tuesday the 7th morning gets a bit fresh with a 19 mph offshore, and the swell bumps to 4ft at 16 seconds. That’s a lot of wind, so while it’s clean, it’ll be a bit more challenging. The afternoon settles a little.
Now, Wednesday the 8th is a standout. Morning shows 6ft SSW at 15 seconds with moderate offshore winds, and the afternoon builds to 6ft at 16 seconds with light offshore. That’s serious, powerful wave energy. This is the pick of the first week: solid, clean, long-period swell hitting a sheltered reef. Experts only for the bigger sets.
Thursday the 9th stays strong – 6ft in the morning, but with a fresh 22 mph offshore. Still clean, but windy. Afternoon drops to 19 mph and the swell holds at 6ft. Still very good.
Friday the 10th is similar – 5ft, 16-second swell, moderate to fresh offshore winds. Consistent and clean.
Saturday the 11th sees the swell ease a touch to 5ft and drop a little in energy, but still a solid day with clean conditions.
Sunday the 12th is a noticeable drop – 2ft to 3ft, and the energy falls way down. Surfable but very ordinary. The run of quality takes a breather.
Monday the 13th afternoon, things flick back on. 4ft SSW at a massive 19-second period – that’s a very long period groundswell. Really promising, especially on the reef.
Tuesday the 14th is the other major standout. Morning delivers 6ft at 17 seconds – that’s strong, powerful stuff. Afternoon holds at 6ft at 15 seconds. That morning session is shaping up to be the best of the whole outlook. Clean, strong, long-period swell – if you can only paddle out once, make it Tuesday the 14th morning.
Wednesday the 15th morning is a bit marginal with a fresh offshore, but the afternoon comes back clean with 5ft at 18 seconds.
Thursday the 16th stays solid: 5ft at 16 seconds in the morning, 5ft in the afternoon. Both sessions are clean and punchy.
From Friday the 17th onwards, the swell gradually fades, dropping to 4ft and then 3ft by Saturday the 18th. Still clean, but the power is winding down.
Sunday the 19th and Monday the 20th see cross-off winds creep in, so the glassy perfection gets a little choppy. Swell hangs around 4-5ft, but it’s not going to be as clean as the days before.
The first week delivers consistently good to excellent conditions, with Wednesday the 8th and Tuesday the 14th as the absolute standouts – especially Tuesday the 14th morning for size, power, and clean offshore glass.
