The Lowdown
Alright, grab a coffee and sit down for this one, because I gotta be straight with you. The outlook for Rapid Creek over the next 16 days is a real bummer. There's basically nothing on the cards that's worth paddling out for.
The whole 16-day window is a flat spell. From the 24th of August right through to the 8th of September, the swell is tiny – we're talking about ankle-snappers at best. The combined energy of all swells directed here never gets above a paltry nine (9) – that's weak, weak stuff. The water temp is a warm 80°F with a temperature anomaly of 0.5°F which is totally normal for this time of year, but that's about the only thing that's normal. The wind is mostly OK, with some clean morning windows, but there's just no wave to push around.
Honestly, for a spot like this, a run of flat days like this is pretty normal. It's one of those stretches where you don't even bother checking the cam. The only real highlight is a couple of glassy or clean-offshore mornings, like on the 3rd of September when it's dead calm, but with only 0.3ft of weak, long-period swell from the west, it's just a lake. There's no standouts here, no hidden gems. If you're a kiter, you might find something, but for a surfer, this is a total write-off. The forecast can always change, but as it stands, keep the board in the car.
