Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's cookin' for Rapid Creek Beach.

Honestly, I'm looking at the whole 16-day window, and it's pretty flat. There's no real swell to get excited about. There are days with some small pulses, but the energy is barely there and it's inconsistent at best. For a stretch of 16 days, there's a big gap of nothing really rideable. The first few days have waves, but they're tiny, and then there’s a long dry spell in the middle with almost no swell energy reported into double digits.

Starting off on Wednesday the 12th of August, the models show a bit of swell from the west, but it's only 0.3ft with weak energy (3). The wind is light offshore from the southeast in the morning, so the surface would be clean, but there’s just nothing to ride. That pattern holds through the next few days – small, weak west swell or none at all. The water temp is 79°, which is exactly average for this time of year, so no surprises there.

Rapid Creek Beach is a fairly exposed beach break that needs some west in the swell. The only real highlight, and I say that loosely, is looking ahead to Sunday the 23rd of August. We get a little bump of west swell, at 0.7ft and a period of 16 seconds – that’s a very long period for such a tiny wave. The combined energy is 21, still very weak. The morning winds are offshore from the east-northeast at 9 mph, keeping the surface clean. But with that long period on a beach break, it’s likely to be pretty straight and hard to catch. This is about as good as it gets, though, so if you’re desperate for a paddle, that might be your slim window.

If you're a beginner, anything over 5ft is a challenge, but here you're safe – we never get close to that. For experts, well, there’s nothing that pushes you either. The wind looks mostly manageable, but the real story is the lack of swell. This is one of those blank runs where the ocean just doesn't want to deliver. It’s normal for this area to see these flat spells.

Hang in there, but for the next two weeks, I wouldn't be waxing up with high hopes – unless you're more into kite surfing, because the stronger winds and clean, flat water might be more your game.
