The Lowdown
Alright, this is Rusty, and I gotta be straight with you. Looking at the whole 16-day window for Rapid Creek – Beach, it’s a tough stretch. The forecast is basically flat with zero rideable swell for the vast majority of the period. We’re talking a solid block of nothing from now all the way through to the first week of August.
The first sign of any life, and I mean barely a pulse, shows up on Thursday afternoon, the 6th of August. We get a tiny westerly push of 0.3ft at a very long period of 19 seconds. The combined energy is just a whisper (7). That’s a long-period groundswell, which is nice for shape, but at that size, it’s just a ripple. The morning of the 9th of August offers a similar story: 0.3ft from the west at 20 seconds, with a clean, light offshore breeze blowing from the east at 6 mph. That’s the cleanest window we get, but again, the swell is basically non-existent. The combined energy is still weak (8).
After that, it fades back into nothing. There’s a consistent, moderate offshore wind in the mornings from the ESE, which would be epic if there was any swell. But there isn’t. The water temperature anomaly is about average for the time of year, so nothing weird there.
Honestly, this isn’t a surf outlook; it’s a flat spell report. The only thing that might get a little bump is the very long period nature of the tiny swell, which could wrap into a point or reef, but Rapid Creek is a beach break. For a beach break, that long period (over 15 seconds) will just make it break straight and close out, even if there was more height. There’s nothing to get excited about here. It’s a blank run, and for this area, that’s just how it goes sometimes.
Rusty.
