Table - best surf conditions forecast for Ninja's over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here, let's have a look at what's heading our way.
We're kicking off with a bit of a slow start, to be honest. The first week is a bit of a tease, with waves just ticking over. While Ninja's is a fairly consistent reef that's good for beginners, the early days are held back by some iffy conditions and the threat of thunderstorms. The swell is there, but the quality isn't. It's a frustrating wait.
Wednesday afternoon the 8th sees a small 3ft SSW swell at 14 seconds, but with a moderate cross-off wind, it's not quite clicking. The combined wave energy is moderate (351), and that theme of marginal surf continues through to the following Tuesday. We see the swell bump up a little over the weekend of the 11th and 12th, but with the best part of 12-13 mph winds, it's not going to be clean. The water temp is a warm 84°, which is pretty normal for the time of year.
Now, the real standout window comes the following week. Wednesday morning the 15th of July is your first real target. The wind drops right out to a slight air, with a clean 3ft groundswell from the SW. That period is a very long 16 seconds, so this reef is going to see some beautiful, lined-up sets. The energy is strong (618), and the waves will have real shape to them. It’s looking like a proper day for it.
The next good opportunity is Thursday the 16th. Another clean morning with a light breeze, with a 4ft swell from the SSE. It's not the same quality as the 15th, but it'll be fun and clean.
We then hit another gap from the 17th through the 22nd. The wind swings around and gets messy, with a lot of cross-shore chop making things ugly. The swell does kick hard on Monday the 20th, hitting 5ft in the afternoon, but the wind is still a problem. That combined energy hits a massive 1164, which is very high, but with moderate cross-off wind, it might be one for the more experienced locals to find a bank.
The real gold at the end of the forecast is Thursday morning the 23rd of July. The swell pushes up to 6ft from the SSE, with a solid 11-second period, and the wind is a clean cross-off. The energy is very strong (891), and this is the biggest, cleanest swell of the whole run. This one is for the crew who know the break; it’s going to be pumping.
So to wrap it up: get out there Wednesday the 15th for the clean, long-period groundswell, and then mark your calendar for Thursday the 23rd for the biggest and best day of the pattern.
Rusty.
