Alright, let’s get into it.
We’ve got a long window ahead, but it starts quiet. The first couple of days at Ninja's are a write-off – small, bumpy cross-shore winds, and the energy’s got no shape. The water’s sitting at 84°, which is about normal for this time of year. Not worth paddling out.
Then Sunday the 5th rolls in, still small at 3ft from the SSE, but the wind swings cross-offshore. It stays clean, but the swell’s weak and the period’s only 10 seconds. It’s surfable if you’re desperate, but it’s nothing to write home about. Monday’s similar, though by Monday afternoon the period jumps to 17 seconds on a 2ft SSW swell. That’s a long-period groundswell, but it’s small and the energy’s moderate (409). At a reef like Ninja's, that long period might actually line it up nicely if you’re patient. Still, I’d call it marginal.
Tuesday the 7th sees a bump in energy (534) with a 2ft SW swell and 15-second period. Winds are cross-off and clean. Solid enough for a beginner-friendly reef wave, but the size is still small. Wednesday’s a step back – cross-shore chop and only 2ft.
Now here’s where it gets interesting. Thursday the 9th morning has 4ft from the SSW with a 14-second period and moderate energy (623). Still cross-off wind, clean. That’s a proper little groundswell for Ninja's. If you can get out before the afternoon storms, it’ll be worth it.
Friday the 10th morning is the real standout in the first week. You’ve got 3ft SSW swell, 14 seconds, gentle cross-off breeze, and the energy’s solid (499). The call says “expect good surf conditions”. That’s your best bet early on – clean, fun, and not too big for anyone.
Saturday the 11th drops right back off. Small, weak, ordinary. Sunday the 12th morning has a little pulse (3ft, 12 seconds, 300 energy) and clean wind – worth a look if you’re keen for a slow session. Monday the 13th is similar.
Then comes Tuesday the 14th. This is the one to mark on the calendar. Morning sees 3ft from the SSW, a very long 16-second period, light breeze, clean, and strong energy (544). The rating is “expect very good surf conditions”. That long-period groundswell at Ninja's reef will draw lines like a dream. Could be glassy, consistent, and just beautiful. Best session of the whole forecast.
Wednesday the 15th brings size – 4ft from the SW with 17-second period and energy through the roof (802 in the morning, 1153 in the afternoon). But wind is cross-shore, so you’ll have some lump. That’s expert territory at that size on a reef, especially with that much power.
Thursday to Sunday the 19th fades out. Swell stays around 2ft to 4ft, but winds turn onshore or cross-on, and the energy drops. It’s poor to marginal at best. Not worth chasing.
So here’s the bottom line: If you’re paddling out this week, hit Friday the 10th morning. If you can wait, Tuesday the 14th morning is the true standout – light wind, long-period groundswell, clean, and that reef will be doing its thing.
