Table - best surf conditions forecast for Ninja's over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s in the water for the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, Thursday and Friday look pretty average. The swell is a bit weak at only 3ft to 4ft from the SSW, and the wind is a stiff cross-offshore from the WNW at 15-16 mph. It’s clean, but the energy is lacking (combined energy at 616 and dropping), so don’t expect much more than a few knee-high lines. Saturday through Monday it stays small, with the swell dropping to 2ft-3ft and the energy fading away (down to 208). It’s pretty flat and borderline frustrating.
The first real standout comes on Wednesday, July 15th. Morning sees a clean 3ft swell from the SW, but the key here is the period. We’re looking at a very long-period groundswell of 16 seconds, which pushes the combined energy up to 618. The wind is light offshore from the west at 9 mph, glassing things up nicely. This is a reef break that loves a bit of direction, and the swell is coming from the optimum south direction. The sets will be clean, lined up, and easy to paddle into. The afternoon only gets better with the wind dropping to a light breeze. This is a rare, very clean window for Ninja's, and it’s when you want to be in the water. It’s a consistent spot, but crowds are often around here, so you’ll have company.
After that, the swell holds through the 16th and 17th, but the wind starts to get a little cross-shore, messing with the surface. The energy is still moderate (around 530-500), but it’s not as prime as the 15th. The following week, from the 18th onward, the forecast gets a bit messy. The wind swings more southwest and cross-onshore, and the swell drops to a short, weak period of 8-9 seconds by the 19th and 20th. The wave state turns choppy, and the scores drop right off. There’s a little bump in size (5ft-5ft) around the 20th-22nd, but the wind is all over the place, mixing up a cross-chop. It’s not great for a paddle.
However, the real long-range promise is Thursday, July 23rd and Friday, July 24th. The swell sticks around 5ft-5ft from the SSE, and the wind finally goes light and offshore again. The forecast is calling for "very good surf conditions" for both days. The combined energy is solid (565 and 522), and the period is a short 9 seconds, so it won’t be as lined up as the 15th, but it will be clean and fun. It’s a bit far out, so keep an eye on it, but that looks like the second-best window of the whole run.
Rusty.
