Table - best surf conditions forecast for Ninja's over the next 16 days.
Righto, let’s have a look at what’s on the cards over the next couple of weeks. The main show is gonna be at Ninja's, a reef set-up that’s fairly consistent and takes a south swell. It’s an exposed spot, so it picks up most of what’s heading our way. The water temperature is sitting at 85°, which is about average for this time of year, so nothing out of the ordinary there.
The first few days are a bit of a write-off, to be honest. Friday the 10th and Saturday the 11th have some small, marginal swell around 2ft to 3ft, and the wind is cross-off, but the wave energy is pretty weak (209 to 487). Not really worth paddling out for.
Things start to look a bit more promising on Monday the 13th. The swell picks up a little to 4ft from the S with a consistent 11-second period. The wind stays light out of the WNW, keeping it clean. The energy is moderate (711), and the forecast says very good conditions. This is the first real standout of the forecast. Tuesday the 14th is similar, but the swell drops back slightly.
Wednesday the 15th is another highlight. The swell is 3ft from the SW, but the period jumps to 16 seconds – that’s a proper long-period groundswell. The wind is light at 6 mph, and the energy is solid (627). This will be clean and have some nice shape, but because it’s a reef break, the long period should work well here. Thursday the 16th and Friday the 17th keep the clean, light wind conditions, with the swell holding around 2-3ft from the SW.
Now, we hit a big gap. From Saturday the 18th through to Wednesday the 22nd, the conditions turn poor. The wind swings cross-shore, the swell gets jumbled up with short periods (8-10 seconds), and the energy is weak. The reports are calling it poor surf. This is a good stretch to find something else to do.
The later part of the forecast shows a bit of a recovery. Saturday the 25th stands out. The swell is 5ft from the SSE, with a 10-second period and a light NW breeze. The energy is strong (843), and the conditions are forecast to be very good. This is the second real standout, but it’s a week and a half away, so keep an eye on it.
So, if you’re looking for the best waves, point your board at Monday the 13th and Wednesday the 15th for the cleanest, juiciest surfing. The Saturday the 25th is a promising long-range call, but we’ll have to see how it shapes up. The rest of the time, it’s pretty average.
