Table - best surf conditions forecast for Ninja's over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s coming up. We’re focusing on a stretch of the next 16 days, but it’s a slow start. The first real chance to get wet doesn’t come until the morning of Tuesday the 14th, so get ready for a bit of a wait.
The overall pattern is one of inconsistent, moderate energy. There’s no massive swell on the horizon, but we’ve got a couple of windows where the stars align for some clean, fun waves. The best of the lot looks like it’ll be the long-period groundswell that shows up later in the second week.
Let’s start with the first proper call. Tuesday the 14th morning, Ninja’s is the spot to be. It’s a reef break, exposed to the south, and we’ve got a clean 4 ft swell from the SSE at 11 seconds. The wind is a light cross-off breeze from the WNW at 15 mph, which will keep the surface glassy. The water temp is sitting at 85°, which is about normal for this time of year. The combined energy is moderate at 632. It’s not a massive day, but it’s clean and rideable.
Tuesday afternoon drops off a little, and Wednesday the 15th is a bit of a mixed bag. The morning has a 3 ft swell from the SW, but the period jumps to a very long 16 seconds. That’s a proper groundswell, and at a reef like Ninja’s, those long-period lines will wrap in beautifully. The wind is light and cross-off. It’s a sneaky good session. The energy is moderate at 580.
The real standout, though, is the period from Thursday the 23rd through to Monday the 27th. This is where the forecast gets exciting. Starting Thursday the 23rd morning, we’ve got a 3 ft swell from the SW at 16 seconds, with light cross-off winds. The combined energy jumps to 555, and the conditions are expected to be very good. That long-period groundswell will be pumping in clean, and at a reef break, the shape will be excellent. Friday the 24th looks just as good, with the same 3 ft swell and 14-second period, holding that clean cross-off wind. The energy is 554 in the morning and 504 in the afternoon. Saturday the 25th is a bit more marginal, but then Sunday the 26th afternoon picks up again with a 4 ft SSE swell and a big jump in energy to 673.
Monday the 27th is the crown jewel. Morning session has a 2 ft swell from the SW at 17 seconds – that’s a very long period, which means real power and shape. The wind is a light cross-off at 15 mph, and the energy is strong at 636. The afternoon is nearly identical, with a 3 ft swell from the SW at 16 seconds and energy at 634. This is the best run of the whole outlook. Bear in mind, with a swell this long in period, it’ll be a bit more setty, but at a reef break like Ninja’s, the waves will be lined up and well-defined.
Keep in mind, Ninja’s can get crowded, and it’s a reef, so it’s best for surfers who are comfortable over a shallow bottom. The crowds are likely, so get in early. For the absolute best, your target is the morning of Monday the 27th of July, with a backup on the 23rd and 24th. The long-range stuff is promising, but it’s less certain. The second week has some good spells, but the real magic is in that last few days.
Stay stoked, and I’ll see you out there.
