Alright, Rusty here again, but this time in feet and miles per hour. Let's break down La Caffrine.
The first real action hits Tuesday the 7th with a swell around 6 feet from the south on a 12-second period. A 16 mph cross-offshore breeze from the SE is blowing, and the water's about 77°F, which is a touch warmer than average. The combined energy is strong at 1600. By afternoon, it jumps to 10 feet from the south with a 19 mph cross-off – that’s just too big for this spot, and the energy goes ballistic at 2756.
Wednesday the 8th morning brings a 7-foot S swell with a light 3 mph cross-shore – clean but a bit jumbled from the short period. The real gem is Wednesday afternoon: 8 feet from the ESE with a 9-second period, but the wind goes glassy. That’s clean, punchy waves. The energy is 1828. This is the best bet in the first week for experienced surfers. Crowds can pop up sometimes here.
Thursday the 9th drops to a 5-foot SSE swell with a light onshore breeze – not good. Friday the 10th morning is a surprise: 4 feet from the SW but with a very long 15-second period and glassy conditions. Energy is 652. That long period groundswell is built for a point or reef, but if the tide’s right, it could be a sneaky session.
Saturday the 11th kicks back up to 6 feet from the SW with a 15-second period, but it’s onshore and messy. Energy is 1329. Sunday the 12th morning is for the brave: 8 feet from the SW, 15-second period, glassy – that’s expert territory only, with energy at 2900. Powerful stuff.
The next week has a few clean windows. Monday the 13th afternoon goes glassy with a 6-foot SW swell – 14-second period, energy 1491, clean and solid for experienced folks. Tuesday the 14th and Wednesday the 15th mornings are both in the 4-5-foot range from the SW/SSW with glassy conditions – nice but not huge. Energy is 600-711.
Then things go quiet from Thursday the 16th through Saturday the 18th, with waves dropping below 3 feet – a few days of flatness. Sunday the 19th afternoon sees a 3-foot SSW swell return with a very long 16-second period and a clean cross-off breeze. Energy is 545 – weak but clean. Monday the 20th and Tuesday the 21st stay around 4-4 feet with clean conditions and moderate energy around 500-676.
The long-range standout is Wednesday the 22nd morning: 5 feet from the SSW, long 16-second period, glassy calm, and 1004 energy. That one’s got shape and glass – better for a point or reef, but if it lines up, it’ll be a joy. It’s about a week and a half out, so don't get too excited yet, but mark it.
Best waves of the outlook? Wednesday afternoon the 8th and Sunday morning the 12th – both for experienced surfers. Wednesday the 22nd is the distant promise.
Rusty.
