Alright, let's get into it. Rusty here, and I've been staring at the charts for our little corner of the world. It's a bit of a slow start, but there's some serious gold hidden in the second half of this outlook, so don't sleep on it.
Right now, the water's sitting at about 77°, which is a touch warmer than usual for this time of year—nothing crazy, just a nice little bonus.
We're looking at a gap of a couple of days with nothing worth shouting about, but the first real action kicks off on Saturday morning, July 6th. That morning at La Caffrine, we've got a clean 6ft swell rolling in from the SSW, and it's gonna be glassy. Absolutely zero wind. That's the kind of session you wake up early for. The combined wave energy is strong, sitting around 1124. This is a standout for the near term—clean, punchy, and all yours if you get out there early. The swell period is a solid 13 seconds, so it's got some proper groundswell drive to it.
Saturday afternoon stays glassy too, with the swell easing just a touch to 5ft, still from the SSW. It's gonna be a solid day all around.
Now, Sunday the 7th looks a bit more gnarly. The swell bumps up to 7ft from the SW, and the period jumps to a very long 16 seconds. That's a lot of water moving, and the combined energy hits 2404. But the wind swings cross-shore, which will mess with the surface a bit. This one is for the experienced crew only—7ft is already pushing it for beginners. By Sunday afternoon, it's up to 8ft and cross-onshore, so things get chunky and bumpy.
The middle of the week (July 8th to 10th) gets blown out by strong cross-off winds and sees a lot of swell in the 7ft to 10ft range. The 10ft stuff on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 9th and 10th, is expert-only territory with the combined energy topping 3000. Honestly, it's more of a windsurfing or kiting show than a paddle session if you ask me. The waves will be there, but the conditions are rough.
There's a nice little window on Thursday morning, July 11th. The swell drops back to 5ft from the SSE, the wind goes glassy again, and the period is a clean 10 seconds. Combined energy is moderate at 636. It's a good recovery session, nothing too heavy.
Now, here's where it gets interesting. Friday morning, July 12th offers a gem: 4ft of glassy, clean swell from the SW with a long 14-second period. It's small but perfect. The combined energy is moderate (705). If you're a longboarder or just want the silkiest lines of the week, this is your window.
But the real standout of the entire outlook is Saturday, July 13th and Sunday, July 14th. Saturday morning delivers 5ft from the SW with a 15-second period, glassy, combined energy of 1203. That's prime. Saturday afternoon is even better on paper: 4ft, but an ultra-long 16-second period, still glassy, energy at 1213. These are the days where the waves have ridiculous shape and power for the size.
Sunday the 14th turns the power up again. Morning sees 8ft from the SW, 14-second period, glassy, energy at 2354. This is solid, powerful wave face for the experienced crowd. Afternoon stays clean with a 8ft SSW swell and a light cross-off breeze. This whole weekend (July 13-14) is the true highlight of the 16-day run, but being more than a week out, take it as a promising forecast—not a guarantee.
The second week locks into a pattern of clean, cross-off winds and solid swell, particularly on July 15th and 16th with plenty of 7ft to 7ft SSW groundswell. Energy stays strong, in the 2000s. On July 18th and 19th, we see a shift with 8ft ESE swell and clean conditions, so there are options for the dedicated surfer right through.
Overall, the first few days are quiet, then it gets messy mid-week, but the weekend of July 13th and 14th is the one to circle. Glassy, good period, proper swell.
Rusty.
