Alright, let’s break it down for La Caffrine.
It all starts Sunday the 5th of July with a bumpy entry. Wave face is around 8ft from the SW, 14-second period, strong energy (2588), but the cross wind and a marginal call mean it’s not the time to get excited. Water temp is 76°, pretty normal for the season.
Monday the 6th and Tuesday the 7th are messy. Monday shows 7ft to 8ft but lumpy cross-chop, not worth it. Tuesday morning cleans up a touch with a cross-off breeze and 6ft from the S, but the outlook is still poor. Tuesday afternoon, though – 10ft from the S, clean cross-off wind, wave energy at 3004. That’s big, and the notes say it may be too much for this spot – experts only.
Wednesday the 8th stays heavy: 10ft from the SE, only 9-second period so a bit fat. The morning has a gentle cross-off breeze, the afternoon is nearly glassy. Clean, but too big for this break.
Then it goes quiet. Thursday the 9th morning goes glassy with 4ft from the SSE, 10 seconds – very clean, but the surf is marginal. By Friday the 10th it drops further. Friday afternoon is glassy with a 3ft SSW swell and a 16-second period – very long period, wave energy only 671. Saturday the 11th picks up: 6ft to 7ft from the SW, long period, glassy. Wave energy climbs to 1467 and 1906. Notes say excellent for experienced surfers. That’s the first real standout.
Sunday the 12th keeps it pumping: 8ft from the SW, 15-second period, glassy, wave energy at 2899. Another one for the experienced crew. Same through Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th, though Tuesday drops to 5ft – a good all-rounder.
There’s a stretch from late Tuesday the 14th through the 15th and into the 16th where surf gets smaller and wind turns cross-onshore. By Thursday the 16th morning, a glassy window with 4ft from the SSW, 13 seconds, still rated very good.
The second week highlight lands on Saturday the 19th. Sunday afternoon the 19th gives us 6ft from the SSW with a massive 21-second period – proper groundswell, wave energy at 4363. Very powerful, but with that long period at a beach break, it might be tricky.
Then Monday the 20th hits hard: 12ft from the SSW, 17 seconds, wave energy at 6987. The forecast says it’s too big for this break – expert-only.
Best bet overall? Friday the 10th afternoon through Tuesday the 14th gives the most consistent clean, glassy run with building swell. The standout is Tuesday the 7th afternoon – 10ft, clean cross-off, huge power. Know your limits.
