Table - best surf conditions forecast for La Caffrine over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here, and I’ve got a good look at the charts for this stretch. The main story is a massive pulse of southwest swell that moves in right from the start, but it’s a real mixed bag for a beginner spot. The waves are gonna be powerful, but for the most part, it’s dialed in for the crew who know what they’re doing.
The first standout is gonna be Sunday afternoon, July 12th at La Caffrine. We’ve got a solid 8ft swell rolling in from the southwest, with a 14-second period pushing a lot of energy (2748). That alone is a big, powerful groundswell. But the real magic here is the wind – it’s glassy. That’s dead calm, a major positive. For experienced surfers, this is going to be clean and lined up. The water temp is sitting at 76°, which is a touch warmer than average for this time of year, so it’s pretty comfortable.
Monday morning, July 13th is a bit of a write-off with a cross-shore wind messing up the 8ft swell, but the Monday afternoon session cleans right up again. Glassy conditions return with the same 8ft, 14-second swell, making it another excellent window for the experienced crew.
Tuesday morning, July 14th is another glassy morning with a slightly smaller 6ft swell from the SSW. The energy is still solid (1760), and the conditions look perfect. This is a real strong run of quality for the first half of the week.
Things start to drop off by Wednesday, July 15th. The swell fades to 5ft in the morning and then down to 3ft by the afternoon. The energy drops to 471 by the afternoon, and while it’s glassy, it’s a much smaller, weaker wave. Good for a longboard but not a standout.
There’s a lull through the middle of the week. Thursday, July 16th and Friday, July 17th are small, with the swell bouncing between 2ft and 4ft. The energy is low, and there’s a fair bit of cross-shore wind. It’s a gap of a few days where the surf is just not doing much worth getting excited about.
But then we get a real promising, long-range look. Monday, July 20th brings a massive return of swell. The morning shows a 10ft swell from the SSW with a 16-second period and a huge energy reading of 4246. For a spot like La Caffrine, that’s a lot of water moving. It’s going to be a heavy, powerful beast. This one is for experts only.
The wind on that Monday morning is a strong cross-shore, which will create some lumpy, challenging conditions. The real highlight in this second week might be Sunday, July 26th. The morning session has a 7ft SSW swell, a 16-second period, and a clean cross-offshore wind. The energy is still high (2655), and the conditions look excellent for experienced surfers.
Looking further ahead, Monday, July 27th is another big one. We’ve got a 8ft, 17-second period swell from the southwest pumping in with 3597 in energy. The wind is a cross-shore, so it’s not going to be perfect, but it’s going to be big and powerful. Another one for the experts only.
If you’re a beginner, this whole forecast period is a no-go. The swell is consistently over 5ft and often well over 8ft, making it intimidating and dangerous. For the experienced surfer, the first week has some glassy, world-class windows, and the second week has some big, powerful swells that will test your skills.
Rusty.
