Table - best surf conditions forecast for La Caffrine over the next 16 days.
G’day, I’m Rusty. Let’s look at the local outlook for La Caffrine. Water temp’s about 76°F—pretty normal for the season, nothing too wild. There’s a good stretch of surf ahead, but the first solid action comes Saturday, July 11th, and it’s clean but on the beefy side.
Saturday, July 11th: Morning is glassy with a light 5 km/h W wind—dead flat water. Swell runs 6 ft from the SW with a long 15-second period, pumping proper groundswell energy. Combined energy is moderate-strong (1483). This is excellent for experienced surfers—too much for beginners with that size and long interval. The swell lines up with the optimum SSW direction. Afternoon gets a bit choppier with a cross-on wind, still rideable.
Sunday, July 12th: Morning jumps to a stout 10 ft SW swell (15 sec) but with SSE wind at 20 km/h crossing hard—cross-chop city, combined energy strong (3553). Only for experts. Afternoon drops to 8 ft, wind clean, still big.
Monday, July 13th: 8 ft SW swell (14 sec) in the morning, ESE 10 km/h cross-off, clean. Energy strong (2597). Experienced crew only. Afternoon smaller but less clean.
Tuesday, July 14th: Early 7 ft SSW (13 sec) with cross-on, but after lunch: glassy conditions, 6 ft swell, moderate energy (1507), and clean. A good session for those comfortable overhead.
Wednesday, July 15th: Glassy morning with 5 ft S swell (12 sec)—energy moderate (1249). Accessible for intermediates. Afternoon holds 5 ft with light cross-off. Two solid windows.
Thursday, July 16th: Swell drops to 2 ft—weak energy (256). Glassy but small. Longboard fun.
Friday, July 17th: Morning 3 ft S swell but with a very long 16-second period. Energy low (546), but those long lines will break straight at this beach—something to note. Afternoon: 4 ft S (15 sec), glassy. Nice little session.
Saturday, July 18th & Sunday, July 19th: Both glassy mornings, 2-4 ft SSW to SW, 11-16 sec periods. Small but clean and friendly.
Monday, July 20th: Swell pumps to 10 ft SW (17 sec) with huge energy (4895). Morning clean with offshore N wind, but expert-only. Afternoon onshore and messy.
Tuesday, July 21st: Still 8 ft with cross wind—rough.
Wednesday, July 22nd: Drops to 5 ft SSW (12 sec), SE cross-off in the morning, clean. Moderate energy (1380). Good for experienced.
Thursday, July 23rd: Glassy morning with 7 ft S swell (10 sec), moderate energy (1178). Clean and punchy.
Friday, July 24th: Morning 5 ft SSE (9 sec), wind picking up. Afternoon a tiny 3 ft but with a 22-second period—ghost swell, combined energy oddly high (1642).
Saturday, July 25th: This is the standout. Morning brings 6 ft SSW groundswell with a long 19-second period, light SE cross-off, combined energy strong (3153). Clean, powerful, and the swell hits the optimum direction—this is your best bet. For experienced surfers only.
Sunday, July 26th: Another beauty: 6-7 ft SSW (16 sec), cross-off winds both sessions, energy strong (1913-2277). Clean and lined up.
Best in the window: Saturday morning, July 25th and Sunday, July 26th—clean, strong, and well-directed. Crowds are possible now and then. Early week has clean but expert-heavy options, and the small mid-week days are friendly for all.
Rusty.
