Surf Forecasts:
The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's be straight with you – the next couple of weeks are looking like a proper dry spell for surf around here. There’s not a single recommendable wave in sight for the entire 16-day forecast, so don’t bother checking the cams or hurrying to pack the car.
We are looking at a blank run that stretches all the way from Monday the 27th of July right through to at least Tuesday the 11th of August. That’s a solid 16-day stretch of “poor surf conditions” with combined swell energy flatlining at zero the whole time. No swell height, no period, no energy coming in whatsoever. It's a total flat spell.
For a spot like Kumcağız (Kumcagiz), a sandbar setup that’s already rated as inconsistent, this sort of prolonged nothingness, while frustrating, isn't totally out of the ordinary. It tends to go quiet around here. The water temperature is about average for this time of year, so that’s one thing not working against us. There might be some moments of clean, glassy conditions, like early on Thursday the 6th of August with barely a breath of wind, but without any swell to push through, it’s just pretty, flat water. With no swell, even the light offshore and cross-offshore mornings we see in the middle of the coming week and the week after aren’t going to produce a ripple worth paddling for.
If you’re looking to get wet, this is looking more like a week for a swim or a paddleboard, but honestly, it’s time to pick up a new hobby for a bit, or just wait for the forecasts to change. They can flip around pretty quick around here, so don't lose all hope.
Rusty.
