The Lowdown
Hey, Rusty here. Let’s not sugarcoat it – the 16-day forecast for our local break is a total washout.
From Friday, August 14th, right through to Sunday, August 23rd, there’s absolutely nothing. Combined swell energy is flat zero (0) every session. The water’s sitting at 79°, a touch warmer than usual for the season, but that’s cold comfort when there are no waves. We’ll see some glassy, clean mornings on Tuesday the 18th and Wednesday the 19th, but without any swell, it’s just a sheet of glass.
Then from Monday, August 24th, to Saturday, August 29th, it’s the same deal. Zero combined swell energy (0). The wind offers some clean moments on the 24th morning with a light offshore, and a glass-off on the 26th morning, but the ocean is dead flat.
Kumcağaz is a beginner-friendly sandbar that’s fairly exposed, needing a swell from the NW. We’re getting none. This is a typical dry spell for the area. For paddle surfing, you’re out of luck. It’s not worth the drive, but keep an eye on it – these flat runs never last forever around here.
