Surf Forecasts:
The Lowdown
Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let’s get straight into it. The long-range look for the next 16 days is a tough one for the Kumcagiz sandbar. I’m looking at a flat spell that stretches from now all the way through to the end of the forecast period. There’s no swell showing up at all, which means no recommendations for a surf session. The combined energy of all swells directed here is sitting at 0, so we’re talking about a total lack of wave energy. It’s a quiet run for the area, and a blank stretch like this isn’t unheard of for this part of the coast.
From Saturday, July 18th, right through to Sunday, August 2nd, the charts show nothing but flat lines. The wind is mostly cross or cross-offshore, with a few glassy mornings thrown in on Saturday, July 25th, and Monday, July 27th, but without any swell to clean up, it’s just a pretty lake out there. The water temp is about average for the time of year, nothing unusual there. The break is described as inconsistent and rarely breaks, so this gap makes sense. It’s a beginner-friendly sandbar, but when there’s nothing to ride, even the best board won’t help.
The best on offer? There isn’t one. Nothing. The setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing if the wind ever picks up, but for a surfer, it’s a waiting game. Forecasts can change, but for now, leave the boards in the shed.
Rusty.
