Surf Forecasts:
The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s take a look at what’s going on for our local stretch.
Well, I’m gonna be straight with you – this is a tough one to write. Looking at the next 16 days, there’s really nothing to get excited about. The surf is flat across the entire period. There’s a big gap of no surf starting now and running right through to the end of the forecast on August 23rd. Not a single ripple of energy is showing up.
The only spot we’ve got here is Kumcağaz (Kumcagiz), a sandbar setup that’s inconsistent at the best of times. It’s a beginner-friendly spot, fairly exposed to the swell, but there’s no swell to expose it to. The combined wave energy is a flat zero for the whole run. The water temperature is sitting at 76°F which is pretty much bang on average for this time of year, so at least the water feels normal.
We see some glassy mornings on the 10th, 17th, 18th, 21st, and 22nd of August, and even a few clean cross-offshore days, but with no swell, it’s just a lake out there. The wind is mostly light and variable, sometimes cross-shore, but it’s all irrelevant when there’s nothing to surf.
This is a real bummer, but for this area, a blank run like this isn't totally unheard of. Don’t hang up your wettie just yet – forecasts can change, and it tends not to stay this poor for too long.
Stay tuned, and keep your eyes on the horizon.
Rusty.
