The Lowdown
G'day, it's Rusty here. Look, we've got one spot on the radar for this 16-day window: Fourth Beach. It's an advanced wave that's exposed to a SW swell, so when it's on, it pumps, but you've gotta know what you're doing. The water temp is sitting right on the money at 61.3°, pretty much bang on average for this time of year, so nothing weird going on there.
The first real call is for Friday the 21st. A solid 8.2ft SSW groundswell is rolling in with a 15-second period and the combined energy is pumping hard at 3384 – that's proper strong. But the real magic is the wind: it's glassy zero. That's the standout. If you're an experienced surfer, Friday morning is your window. The next morning, Saturday the 22nd, is also a cracker with 6.6ft SSW swell, a 14-second period, and a moderate offshore wind from the north keeping it clean. Energy is still strong at 2997.
The rest of the first week gets messy. Sunday the 23rd is a write-off with choppy onshore winds. Monday the 24th and Tuesday the 25th have some clean moments, but the surf is smaller or the winds are side-shore. The real crowd is on Friday morning.
Looking further out, Saturday the 30th of August has one truly tasty moment: Sunday morning the 30th. A 3.9ft SSW groundswell with a 19-second period – that's very long period, groundswell. Combined energy is still strong at 1583, and the wind is a cross-offshore from the WNW, keeping it clean. For an advanced break like this, that long period will really wrap in and offer up some proper lines. Then Monday the 31st morning has a clean 5.6ft SSW swell with a 17-second period and light cross-offshore wind. Into September, Tuesday the 1st morning has a strong 8.2ft SW swell, offshore NW wind, and high energy at 3135, but the water will be getting into spring. All the other days after that are torched by onshore wind or big, messy conditions. So, your two true standouts are Friday 21st morning and Sunday 30th morning.
