Table - best surf conditions forecast for Fourth Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get into it.
The next couple of weeks at Fourth Beach are gonna be a mixed bag. We’ve got some serious swell on the way, but the wind is going to be the main character in this story. For a while there, it’ll be pretty tough to find a clean window, but if you’re patient, there’s a few absolute gems hidden in there.
The water temp is sitting at 62°, which is pretty much bang on average for this time of year, so no surprises there.
The first few days, from Saturday the 11th right through to Monday the 13th, are basically a write-off. The swell is pumping, hitting 8 ft to 12 ft, but it’s coming with ugly cross-onshore winds. The energy is massive (2427 up to 8755 combined energy), but it’s going to be choppy, messy, and not much fun. This is big, powerful stuff, but without the right wind, it’s just a washing machine. Honestly, that Monday morning, the swell hits 12 ft with a 17-second period, but the cross wind just kills it. It’s kite-surfing territory, not for paddling.
Now, here’s where it gets interesting. Tuesday the 14th is the standout. The morning is clear, with a light offshore breeze from the north at 6 mph. The swell drops to a still-chunky 8 ft, but the wind turns it clean. We’re talking about a groundswell from the SSW with a 15-second period (3118 combined energy). That’s proper wave energy, with long lulls between sets making it easier to get out the back. This is for experienced surfers only though – 8 ft gets thick and powerful. It’ll be a serious session.
Wednesday the 15th is another good call, especially the afternoon. The swell eases to 5 ft, clean, with a moderate offshore breeze from the NNE at 12 mph. The energy is much more manageable (1367). This is a great window for anyone who found Tuesday a bit heavy. The wind is off, the lines will be clean.
Thursday the 16th holds the quality. Swell ticks back up to 7 ft – 8 ft, again from the SSW, with a long 16-second period and a solid 12 mph offshore breeze from the NNW. Clean, powerful, and consistent. This is another one for the advanced crew. The offshore wind is going to groom it into perfection.
The end of the week on Friday the 17th is smaller, 4 ft to 4 ft, with a dropping period. It’s clean in the morning, but the energy drops off sharply (609). It’s a small-wave day.
The following week gets messy again. The 18th and 19th show cross to onshore winds and serious swell (7 ft to 12 ft) with very high energy, but it’s blown out. Avoid.
Towards the 23rd and 24th of July, we see another potential highlight. The morning of Thursday the 23rd is clean, light winds, 6 ft of SSW groundswell with a 15-second period (1358). Excellent conditions for experienced surfers. The following day, Friday the 24th, could offer some clean waves too, but the wind is howling at 25 mph. It’ll be clean but howling. The swell is 7 ft, so it’s a tricky one.
So, the best on offer is Tuesday the 14th. Big, clean, offshore, proper groundswell. For a slightly more manageable session, Wednesday the 15th afternoon is your ticket.
