The Lowdown
Hey, Rusty here again. Let’s run through Fourth Beach in feet and miles per hour.
The whole 16‑day forecast is active – no dry spells. Water’s about normal for the season. Crowds can show up, but when the swell lines up it’s a proper spot.
Thursday July 16th: morning’s a bit rough with 6 ft SSW at 16 seconds and a 22 mph offshore – clean but strong. The real standout is Thursday afternoon: 6 ft SSW, 15 seconds, combined energy 1657, and a 12 mph offshore. Clean, powerful, for experienced surfers only.
Friday the 17th: 5 ft to 4 ft SW, moderate offshore, clean. Saturday the 18th is messy with cross‑shore wind. Sunday the 19th: 6 ft SW, 16 seconds but cross‑off/cross‑on breezes – marginal.
Monday the 20th morning is the other standout: 7 ft SSW, 13 seconds, energy 1603, and a 3 mph offshore – glassy clean. Afternoon goes cross‑onshore.
Tuesday the 21st: 5 ft SW, clean offshore but moderate energy. Wednesday the 22nd morning goes glassy – 7 ft SSW, 12 seconds, energy 1184, zero wind. Beautiful. Thursday the 23rd hits 8 ft SSW, 15 seconds, clean offshore – big and powerful, experts only.
Friday the 24th and Saturday the 25th have smaller clean windows, then Sunday the 26th offers clean offshore but only 5 ft to 4 ft.
Monday the 27th through Tuesday the 28th are poor – onshore wind, rain, lumpy. Wednesday the 29th jumps to 8 ft SSW but cross‑onshore – still marginal. Thursday the 30th and Friday the 31st fade with chop and showers.
Best bets remain Thursday 16th afternoon and Monday 20th morning – solid groundswell, offshore winds, clean faces. Everything else is either average or a pass.
Rusty out.
