Alright, Rusty here with a look at the coming 16 days at Fourth Beach.
First thing to know – Fourth Beach is an advanced spot, and it's fairly consistent with a SSW swell window. It’s not a beginner's wave, especially with the size that's on the way. The water's about average for the time of year.
Right now, the surf is already running. Sunday morning kicks it off with a solid 6 ft SSW groundswell (combined energy of 1459) and a 15-second period. The wind is a clean offshore from the NNE, so it’ll be a bit bumpy at 16 mph, but the shape should be there. Sunday afternoon drops a touch to 5 ft (energy 956) with a light 6 mph cross-offshore. That's a nice window – clean waves with plenty of power.
Monday morning keeps it clean with a cross-offshore breeze and 5 ft SSW swell at a juicy 15 seconds (energy 974). Monday afternoon gets a bit chopped with the cross-onshore picking up, so the morning is the pick.
Now, the standout window. Tuesday the 7th looks like the best run. A massive 10 ft SSW groundswell rolls in with a 17-second period – that's very long period groundswell. The combined energy hits 4464 – that's strong wave energy. Conditions are clean Tuesday morning with a light offshore, though this size is experts-only territory. The long period will make it a bit straight at the beach, but for a point break or reef this would be magic. For Fourth Beach, it’ll be heavy and powerful.
Wednesday the 8th and Thursday the 9th keep the quality high – 6 ft and 6 ft with clean cross-offshore winds. Nice and consistent.
The run from Friday the 10th through Sunday the 12th is pretty ugly. The wind turns cross-onshore and the quality drops out completely. There's an 8 ft option on Sunday the 12th but it's messy.
The next real highlight hits Monday the 13th. An 12 ft beast from the SSW with a 17-second period and clean offshore winds (energy 6743). The forecast says it might actually be too big for this break, but if you're an expert and conditions line up, it'll be a session to remember. Tuesday the 14th dips a bit, still solid at 8 ft but with less ideal wind.
Wednesday the 15th is another clean day – 6 ft with a true offshore from the NNW and a 14-second period. Perfect for experienced surfers.
The last week sees size dropping back. Thursday the 16th offers 4 ft but clean, and Friday the 17th jumps back up to a short-period 10 ft (10 seconds) with a cross-offshore – that's more of a close-out and windswell feel. Not great.
Saturday the 18th and Sunday the 19th see another massive pulse – up to 13 ft (energy 8947) and even 12 ft with glassy conditions on Sunday. Again, flagged as possibly too big for this break, but for the absolute hardcore, those are the biggest, cleanest waves of the outlook. Monday the 20th wraps it up with a clean 8 ft and a cross-offshore.
So, best on offer? Tuesday morning July 7th for that perfect mix of size, period, and wind. And for the truly brave, Sunday morning July 19th – glassy, huge, and very long period. Get on it if you've got the skill.
Rusty out.
