Surf Forecasts:
The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here, and I’ve got to be straight with you. This outlook for Ahtopol is a tough one. We’re looking at a 16-day window stretching from the 28th of August through to the 12th of September, and for the entire period, there’s just no surf on offer. The finder is showing a big fat zero for any meaningful wave energy the whole way through. That’s a long dry spell, guys.
The water is sitting at 77°F which is a touch warmer than normal for the time of year, but that’s the only thing that’s happening because there are no waves to speak of.
I’ll be honest, this is a real bummer. The break here is a point, called Ahtopol, which normally likes an east swell, but it’s inconsistent even when there is swell. Over the next couple of weeks, we’re seeing a lot of northerly and north-easterly winds, and a lot of cross-onshore chop. There are a few glassy mornings coming up on the 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 12th of September, but without any swell, it’s just a flat, pretty lake.
For the entire 16 days, the combined swell energy is a zero. There are simply no waves to ride. Sometimes an area just goes quiet, and this is one of those times. Keep an eye on the forecasts, because in this area, it tends not to stay poor for long, and things can change, but for now, leave the board at home.
