Surf Forecasts:
Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, folks, Rusty here. Gotta be straight with you – this forecast is a tough one. I’ve scanned every day from now through to July 19th, and there’s just not a single moment where the swell shows up. The combined wave energy flatlines at 0 across the board.
For Ahtopol, a point break that’s already inconsistent, this is a total blank run. No height, no period, no nothing. The water is sitting at 78°F, which is 5°F warmer than average for this time of year – that’s notably warm, but doesn’t help the surf. Winds vary from glassy to breezy, but without any swell, it doesn’t matter. Mornings on July 6th, 7th, 8th, 10th, and 17th are glassy, and July 11th and 18th have a light cross-offshore, but again, there’s nothing to ride. The whole 16-day stretch is a flat spell.
If you’re into paddle surfing, it’s a no-go. The lack of any swell energy means even the best winds can’t make a wave. For kite surfers? With some onshore breezes kicking up choppy water, it might be a day out, but not for us wave riders. This area can go through quiet runs like this, and unfortunately, this is one of them. Keep an eye on things – forecasts can shift.
Rusty.
