Surf Forecasts:
The Lowdown
G’day, Rusty here. Well, I’ve had a good look at the charts for Ahtopol and the outlook for the next 16 days is a flat one, I’m afraid. There is absolutely no surf on offer from now until the 9th of September. Not a single wave to get excited about. This is a dead run, and it’s worth pointing out Ahtopol is an inconsistent point break, so a blank spell like this is more normal for the area. The water temp is sitting at a comfortable 77°F and with a positive anomaly of 2°F, it’s running a little warmer than usual for this time of year. That’s notable, but it won’t make up for the lack of swell.
Looking through the whole period, every single entry shows zero energy and “poor surf conditions”. There are some glassy mornings – like the 28th of August, the 30th of August, the 31st of August, the 1st of September, the 4th of September, and the 5th of September – but without any swell, those clean conditions are wasted. We get a few breezy afternoons with onshore winds picking up from the ENE and NNE, and even a moderate cross-onshore chop on the 2nd and 6th of September, but again, it’s all for nothing.
There are zero standout days. The first seven days are a total washout, and the second week offers no hope either. If you’re a paddle surfer, don’t bother packing your board. The only action in a setup like this at a point break with no waves might be for a kite surfer if they can generate their own power, but for us, it’s a no-go.
Keep an eye on the charts, but for now, it’s a long flat spell.
Rusty.
