Surf Forecasts:
The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here, let's get into it for Ahtopol.
Honestly, mate, looking out over the next couple of weeks, I gotta be straight with ya – the surf scene is flat. There’s a big old gap with no waves on offer at all. We're looking at a solid run from now, through the 6th of September and all the way until the 21st, where the combined swell energy sits at a weak 0. The wind's mostly onshore or cross-onshore, and it’s just not doing us any favours.
There is one small bright spot, and it’s way out there. On the 19th of September, Saturday morning, we get a glassy window at Ahtopol. That's a point break, which usually loves a bit of direction. The wind goes glassy from the SSW at just 3 mph. That's the kind of clean you dream about, with no wind ripples. The water's a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, coming in at 76°F. The only problem is, there's still zero swell – combined energy at 0. So it’s a beautiful, flat ocean. A perfect day for a paddle or a snorkel, but not a wave to be had.
Because this break is inconsistent at the best of times, this long flat spell is a bit more normal for the area. It’s a blank run, and there's just nothing to recommend for a surf. The conditions stay poor right through to the 21st. Keep an eye on the forecasts, though – it can't stay poor forever.
Rusty.
