The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s be honest, the next 16 days are looking pretty grim. We've got a big fat zero on the board for most of the outlook. There's simply no decent swell on the horizon for this area. It's a long, dry spell.
Looking at Agios Dimitros, it's an exposed south-facing beginner spot that's inconsistent at the best of times. Right now, there's just nothing. For the first week, from Tuesday the 11th of August right through to Monday the 17th, the swell is totally flat. The wind is howling offshore, strong and clean, but with zero waves to ride, it’s just a waste of good wind. You'd be better off staying home.
We do see a tiny blip of life on Tuesday morning the 18th of August. There's a whisper of a 0.7ft swell from the south with a short, weak period of 4 seconds. The energy is practically non-existent. The morning looks clean with a light offshore, but let's be real, you'd be scratching for anything rideable. The water temp is 79°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, but that’s about the only positive note.
After that, it's back to flatness. We get another little hiccup of 0.7ft to 1.0ft from the south on Thursday the 20th and Friday the 21st, but again, the combined energy is pitiful. Even with fresh offshore winds, it’s just not going to stack up to anything worth paddling out for. There are some glassy mornings around the 23rd and 25th, but with no swell, the ocean is just a lake.
The pattern holds through to the end of the period. A few more days of strong offshore winds on the 26th of August, but again, no swell to work with. For a spot that’s already inconsistent, this is a typical blank run. Honestly, if you absolutely have to get wet, this setup with the strong wind and tiny south swell might be more interesting for a kite than a surfboard. Keep an eye on the charts, but for now, don't bother.
