Alright, Rusty here. Let’s break down the next couple of weeks for your local surf.
I gotta be honest, it’s a tough one to write. We’ve got a big fat zero for combined wave energy – 0 across the board – for the entire 16-day run. That means we start with a gap from now, Saturday the 22nd of August, and don’t see any surf worth mentioning until Sunday the 6th of September. Flat as a pancake.
The only spot on the map is Agios Dimitros, a beginner-friendly beach break that’s exposed to the south. It’s inconsistent and rarely breaks. Nothing is coming in from that south direction for the whole period. The water is sitting at 80°F, which feels a touch warmer than normal for the time of year, but it won’t matter since there’s nothing to surf.
We do see some clean offshore wind, like a solid NNE breeze at 19 mph on Monday the 31st of August, but with zero swell, it’s just a pretty, empty ocean. Honestly, that blow is better suited for a kite than a surfboard.
This kind of dry spell isn’t all that unusual for this area. It’s a proper flat spell. Forecasts can flip, but right now, there isn’t a single wave to recommend.
