Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, I’m looking at a pretty bleak picture for the foreseeable future. We’ve got a massive dry spell of nothing happening. From the start of the period right through to the 18th of August, there’s just no swell to speak of. That’s a solid 12 days of flat, clean conditions but absolutely zero waves. It’s gonna be a great time for a paddle or a swim, but not for surfing. The waiting game begins.
The first real flicker of hope comes on the morning of Wednesday, 19th August. We’ll see a tiny pulse of swell from the south pop up at Agios Dimitros. We're talking about a weak 0.7 ft swell with a short, weak period of 4 seconds. The combined energy is a measly (2) – it’s barely a ripple. With the wind blowing fresh offshore from the NNE, the surface will be clean, but it's just too small to do anything with. It’s the only option in the entire 16-day window, and it’s not a good one. The water temp is sitting at 78°, which is about normal for this time of year.
Because there’s literally nothing else to surf, I can’t even point you to a standout. This is just one of those stretches where the ocean takes a holiday. Agios Dimitros is an inconsistent, exposed beginner spot anyway, and it needs a proper south swell to work. A 0.7 ft southerly bump with a 4-second period is just a tease. The wind will be clean, but that’s all it’s got going for it.
So, to sum it up: get ready for a long, flat spell. The 19th offers a tiny, clean crumb, but don't expect much. It’s a tough run for the area.
