The Lowdown
Right then, let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for the next couple of weeks. To be straight with you, it’s a pretty grim run for the most part. We’ve got a massive gap of flat, poor surf conditions stretching from now all the way through to the morning of Saturday the 12th of September. That’s a full nine days of nothing doing, so don’t bother paddling out until then.
The only real glimmer of hope comes at the very tail end of the 16-day period, on Saturday the 12th of September. Agios Dimitros wakes up for a minute with a tiny pulse of swell. On Saturday morning, we’re looking at a mere 1ft of south swell, with a short period of 5 seconds. The combined energy is negligible (5), so it’s not going to be powerful. The wind is glassy - dead calm, so the surface will be perfect. The break itself is exposed to the south, which matches the swell direction, so it should wrap in okay, but it’s an inconsistent spot and this is tiny. The water temperature is a touch warmer than normal at 79°, so that’s nice.
Still, it's the only wave in town. The swell drops even further into the afternoon and through Sunday, but with glassy or clean conditions, you might get a knee-high dribbler if you're desperate. For a beginner break that only works sometimes, this isn’t the time to get your hopes up. If you’re an absolute beginner, that 1ft is fine, but honestly, you’re better off waiting for a proper pulse.
Let’s be real - there’s nothing worth racing out for. The whole first week and a half is a write-off. Keep an eye on the long-range, but for now, it’s a flat spell.
