The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the table for the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, it's a bit of a tough stretch. We've got a long dry spell coming up with nothing worth paddling out for. The first real bit of anything shows up on the morning of Thursday, 23 July, but it's tiny. The main spot on the radar is Agios Dimitros, and the water is sitting at 80°, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year – a proper anomaly.
For that Thursday morning, we're looking at a tiny 0.3 ft swell pushing in from the south, with a period of just 6 seconds. That's weak, short-period windswell, and the combined energy is a measly 1 – basically nothing. The wind is howling offshore from the north at 19 mph, which would keep it clean, but there's just no wave to work with. It's a no-go.
The next tiny pulse comes on Tuesday morning, 28 July. We get a 1.0 ft swell from the southwest, period of 5 seconds, and the energy is still only 6. The wind is cross-offshore from the NNW at 9 mph, so it'll be clean, but again, the size is next to nothing. It's inconsistent here, and honestly, this is a beginner-level break, but even beginners would struggle to get a ride on this.
The rest of the 16-day window is a total blank. From the afternoon of that Tuesday right through to the end of the forecast on 4 August, it's all zeros. No swell, no score. It's just a string of clean, offshore winds with nothing to surf. That's a solid week and a half of nothing.
Look, when the forecast is this empty, it's a normal dry spell for the area. The conditions are often clean, but the swell just isn't cooperating. This setup, with strong offshore winds and no waves, would be more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing if you're desperate. For now, keep the board in the car and wait for the next system.
