The Lowdown
Alright, this is Rusty here, and I gotta be straight with you. Looking at the forecast for Agios Dimitros over the next couple of weeks, it’s a pretty grim picture for surfers. We’re looking at a long, quiet stretch of flat days with nothing to get excited about.
The first sign of any ripple doesn’t show up until late in the run. For over a week, starting now and running right through to the end of August, it’s completely flat. Not a single wave to be had. The water temp is sitting at a pleasant 78°, which is about normal for this time of year, but it’s no consolation when you’re staring at a glassy, flat ocean.
The winds are actually clean for most of this period—light offshores or glassy conditions—but with no swell, it doesn't matter one bit. The whole setup is just a dud for surfing.
We finally see something on the morning of Sunday, the 30th of August. A tiny 0.3ft south swell creeps in, but with a period of just 6 seconds and combined energy of only 1, it’s barely a bump. It’s junk, and the chart rightly calls it poor surf conditions. It’s safe to say that's not one you'd paddle out for.
There’s another whisper of energy on the 3rd of September, with a 0.7ft south swell and a 4-second period, giving us a combined energy of 2. Again, it’s next to nothing and won’t produce a rideable wave.
So, what’s the call? Honestly, there are no good surf options in this entire 16-day window. This spot is pretty inconsistent from the look of it. A long flat spell like this isn’t unusual for this area. Don't leave your board in the car; you'd just be waiting for something that isn't coming.
