The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for the Agios Dimitros zone over the next couple of weeks.
To be honest, this is a tough one. We’ve got a massive, frustrating gap of absolutely nothing happening to start. The first sign of any surf at all doesn’t show up until the morning of Wednesday the 19th, and even then, it’s barely a ripple. The water temp is sitting at 79°, which is a touch warmer than usual for this time of year, but you won’t be caring about that with no waves.
From today, the 13th, all the way through to Tuesday the 18th, there is a total blank. Zilch. Zero combined wave energy. The winds are mostly offshore, but with no swell to work with, that’s like having a perfect engine with no fuel. It’s just clean, flat water.
That first little tease on Wednesday the 19th morning is a tiny 0.7 ft south swell with a period of 4 seconds. That’s short-period windswill, and the combined energy is a measly 1, so it's barely moving. It would be glassy, sure, but you’d be struggling to catch anything ridable. The rest of that day and the days that follow are just poor.
The whole 16-day window is a write-off for any proper surfing. Agios Dimitros is an exposed, inconsistent beginner break that needs a south swell, but the guidance doesn’t deliver any real energy. There’s a lot of clean, offshore wind days in the mix, especially on the 24th and 25th with fresh north breezes, but again, no swell to match it.
Forget the board. If you’ve got a kite, maybe keep an eye on those blustery afternoons with the strong offshore winds, but for paddle surfing, there’s nothing to get excited about. The forecasts can change, but right now, this is a long stretch of nothing.
