G’day, Rusty here. Look, I’ve gotta be straight with you – this stretch of the 16-day forecast for Agios Dimitros is a total write-off for surf. There’s not a single session worth paddling out for. The whole run is bone-dry, with zero swell energy showing up until the very last day, and even then it’s barely a ripple.
From Wednesday August 26th right through to Tuesday September 8th, there’s nothing. The combined swell energy sits at 0, and the wave comment just says “poor surf conditions” day after day. The wind is clean and offshore a lot of the time, but without any swell, that’s just a tease. The water temperature is 81°F with a 4°F anomaly – that’s much warmer than normal for this time of year, but it won’t help you catch a wave.
Then on Wednesday September 9th, we finally see a tiny pulse: a 0.7 ft swell from the south, with a period of 4 seconds – that’s short, weak, windswell at best. The combined energy is only 2 (weak), and the wave comment still says “poor surf conditions.” It’s a no-go. Thursday September 10th is back to zero swell.
Agios Dimitros is an inconsistent, beginner-friendly spot that’s exposed to the south, with an optimum swell direction from the south. But the forecast just doesn’t deliver. The few breaks that are consistent in this area tend to keep hope alive, but here it’s a blank run. Sometimes these dry spells break, but right now, there’s nothing on the table.
