Agios Dimitros Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Hey hey, Rusty here. Let’s talk surf. Honestly, I’m gonna level with you – this 16-day window is a tough one. We’re looking at a long, dry spell with basically nothing to ride. The forecast shows zero swell energy (0) for the vast majority of it. We’ve got strong offshore winds blowing hard for days on end, which would be great if there were any waves, but there just aren’t. The only spot in the picture, Agios Dimitros, is an inconsistent beginner break that’s exposed to the south. Problem is, there’s no swell from the south or anywhere else until the very, very end.

Starting from Thursday, 30 July, right through till early August, it’s a flat-out blank. Day after day of clear skies and offshore breezes, but with no swell showing up, it’s just a windsurfing session for the trees. The winds stay stiff – we’re talking 25 to 31 mph from the north-northeast, making it impossible to paddle into anything even if there was a ripple. That trend keeps going into the first week of August. By Sunday, 2 August, the wind eases to a fresh breeze (19 mph) and then a moderate breeze (16 mph), still offshore, but still no waves. The water temp doesn’t even come into play because there’s nothing to surf.

As we move through the second week, things get closer to glassy – you’ll see some mornings with light winds and even a glass-off on Tuesday, 4 August, but it’s all for nothing. No swell, no surf. The combined wave energy sits at 0 every day. It’s a proper dead period.

Now, I can see a tiny flicker of life right at the tail end. Tuesday, 11 August afternoon, a tiny pulse of 1ft swell from the south-southeast shows up with a 2-second period – that’s basically ripple territory, weak wave energy (1). Then Wednesday morning, 12 August has 0.3ft from the south, and Wednesday afternoon bumps up to 0.7ft from the south. The wind is light and clean from the north-northeast. But be real, that’s not surf. That’s a bath. Thursday, 13 August is glassy again in the morning, but then a moderate cross-onshore chop messes up the afternoon. Friday, 14 August wraps it up with a gentle cross-shore breeze and still no waves.

So, here’s the summary: from now until at least mid-August, there are no good surf options. The first real chance for anything ridable looks like it might not come until after the 14th. This kind of blank run is a bit more normal for an area like this, but it won’t stay poor forever – forecasts change. Hang in there.
