Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s chew the fat on Agios Dimitros for the next couple of weeks. Plain and simple – it’s gonna be a tough stretch with hardly a ripple.
We’re staring down a 16-day window, and for the first 15 days, from Tuesday July 28th all the way to Tuesday August 11th, it’s flat. Dead flat. The combined wave energy is showing zero (0) for every session. The wind is blowing offshore a lot, which would be perfect if there were any waves to clean up, but there aren’t. We’re looking at a glassy ocean with light breezes on some mornings, but it’s a total snooze for a surfer. On the afternoon of Tuesday the 11th of August, a tiny 0.3m (that’s about 1ft) swell from the south shows up with a period of just 2 seconds and almost no energy behind it – it’s a non-event.
Agios Dimitros is an exposed south-facing break that’s known to be inconsistent, so a dry spell like this is more normal for the area. Water temperature is sitting about average for this time of year, nothing unusual there.
If you’re into kiting, you might have a ball with all that strong offshore wind, but for a surfboard? Don’t bother. Forecasts can always flip, but as it stands, it’s a total write-off.
