Baie des Carpes Surf Forecast and Surf Report

G’day, I’m Rusty. Let’s have a look at what’s comin’ for Baie des Carpes over the next couple weeks. Right now it’s a real dry spell – nothin’ worth paddlin’ out for. The first real hint of somethin’ half decent won’t show up until late September, so we’re lookin’ at a long stretch of flat-to-poor conditions from now through the 25th. Most days are gettin’ slapped by cross-onshore winds or just plain weak, messy swell. But hold tight – there’s a little window that’s got my attention.

First up, on Saturday the 26th of September, Baie des Carpes (a reef break suited to advanced surfers only) should finally fire up a bit. The morning session looks the pick of the whole forecast: a clean 4ft swell out of the northwest, combined energy at a solid 303 (moderate to strong), with a proper 11-second period on it. That’s groundswell territory – good shape, longer lulls between sets, makes paddlin’ out a bit easier. Winds are light cross-offshore, so expect clean, lined-up waves. Water temp’s around 85°F, about 2°F warmer than average for this time of year – feels like a warm bath out there. This is the standout. Don’t expect it to be empty – crowds are sometimes an issue here, so get in early.

The rest of the run? Mostly forgettable. Thursday the 24th has some marginal swell with a long 13-second period on a tiny 3ft northwest wrap, but the wind’s messy and the energy’s weak-ish. Friday the 25th afternoon cleans up a touch with light cross-offshore breezes but the swell’s only 2ft – surfable, but nothin’ to write home about. After that, Sunday the 27th gets blown out again with moderate cross-onshore winds and choppy slop.

So, your one true shot here is Saturday morning the 26th at Baie des Carpes – a proper reef break with a clean northwest groundswell, light offshore breeze, and moderate to strong energy. Mark it on the calendar. Everything else is either flat or blown to bits.
