The Lowdown

Alright, Rusty here. Let's break down what's cookin' at Pease Bay.

Gotta be honest, the start of this forecast is a bummer. For the first twelve days or so, the surf is pretty much nonexistent. Tiny waves, strong cross-offshore winds, and just no energy. The combined swell energy is mostly in the single digits and low double-digits, which is weak sauce. Water temp is about average for this time of year, so nothing weird there.

The first real chance to paddle out doesn't come around until Wednesday, September 16th. Wednesday morning, we finally see some swell build to about 3ft from the NNE, with a period of 8 seconds. The combined energy hits 172 (moderate energy), and with a light breeze making things clean, you could snag a few. It's a short period though, so the waves might be a bit wonky. It's the first real option, but not a standout.

The real talk is Wednesday afternoon. Swell drops to about 2ft, but the period stretches out to a long 13 seconds from the N. That's groundswell, baby. The combined energy is still solid at 131 (moderate energy), and with light offshore winds from the SW, the surface will be glassy. That long period means longer waits between sets, but the waves that come through will have some push and shape. For an intermediate surfer, this is your best window in the whole 16-day run.

After that, Thursday the 17th brings onshore winds and lumpy conditions, so the window slams shut again.

So, plan on waiting. Your day is the 16th of September, and the afternoon is where it's at for some clean, long-period lines at Pease Bay.

Rusty.
