The Lowdown
G’day, Rusty here. Let’s break down what’s coming for Pasta Point over the next sixteen days.
Right off the bat, the first few days of August are pretty quiet – not much to get excited about. The water is a warm 29°, which is pretty normal for this time of year.
Wednesday the 5th shows a bit of life. Swell is 1.0 to 1 ft from the SSW with a very long period of 19 seconds, and moderate energy (1019). The wind is cross-offshore from the west at 15–19 mph, so it’s clean but not glassy. It’s marginal, but you might score a few.
The real standout is Sunday the 16th. That’s the one. We’ve got 1 ft of SSW swell with a long period of 16–17 seconds, and strong energy (1064). The wind is light from the NW at 9 mph, cross-offshore, keeping the waves clean. The report says excellent for experienced surfers, and I’d back that. The swell direction matches up well, and the consistency should be solid.
After that, Monday the 17th has a smaller 0.9 to 1.0 ft swell and lighter winds, but it’s still rideable. The rest of the second week is smaller and less reliable.
If you’re waiting for the best, the 16th is your day. Otherwise, it’s a pretty quiet stretch.
Rusty.
