Surf Forecasts:
The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let's look at what's happening.
Alright, folks, I've taken a long hard look at the charts for this stretch, and I've got to be straight with you: it's a full-on flat spell. We're staring down the barrel of a 16-day outlook with absolutely no surf on offer. That's right, not a ripple of swell energy showing up from start to finish. The combined energy of all swells directed here is a big fat zero (0) the entire time. It's a total shutout.
This is a tough one to call, but for a spot like Karasu, which is already known as an inconsistent break, this kind of blank run is more normal for the area. It’s the kind of place where you have to be patient. The water temp is sitting at 75°F for the first reading, which is bang on average for this time of year with a tiny anomaly of -0.2°F, so you can't even blame a cold snap. It’s just dead.
We go from Wednesday the 29th of July right through to Thursday the 13th of August, and every single session is flagged with “poor surf conditions.” The winds are mostly onshore and all over the place, from ENE to NE, sometimes hitting 18 or 25 mph which would just chop up any hope of a wave. There are a few glassy moments on the morning of Sunday the 2nd of August, the morning of Monday the 3rd, and the morning of Saturday the 8th, but it doesn't matter because there's nothing to ride.
We see a little offshore wind on the morning of Tuesday the 4th of August, and a cross-offshore on the morning of Wednesday the 5th, but again, with zero swell, it's just pretty flat water. It's heartbreaking, really.
Honestly, there are no good surf options in this 16-day window. Put the board away, maybe do some fin swaps or just go for a paddle on a flat day to stay loose. The one small consolation is that for a spot that’s inconsistent, this kind of dead run is just part of the deal. It tends not to stay poor for long, so keep an eye out, but for now, it's a no-go.
Rusty.
