The Lowdown
Alright, good on ya for checkin' in. Let's have a look at what's shaking over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you: Black Beach / Cahuita is a consistent spot, but this forecast is a bit of a head-scratcher at first. For the first week or so, we've got a solid, moderate swell pumping in, but it's just too much for this break. The water temp is sitting at a pretty typical 84° for this time of year, nothing unusual there.
The first real chance to get wet comes on Thursday, July 23rd. That morning, the swell drops to 6ft from the ENE with a 9-second period, and the wind swings offshore from the SW at 6 mph. That's clean, that's the best we're gonna see for a while. The energy is moderate (519), and the waves should have some shape. It's a beginner spot, so a bit of a heads up: this is probably the best of a tricky bunch.
Sadly, after that, it's a slow fade. The swell drops off through the 24th and 25th, and by the 25th it's down to 4ft with onshore junk, just poor conditions.
The next flicker of hope comes on Sunday, July 26th. The morning looks glassy – zero wind – with a 5ft ENE swell. That's a clean, easy option for a paddle. After that, we're into a string of marginal days with small, weak swell and cross-onshore winds. It's not great.
The second week is a real snooze, to be honest. A few glassy mornings pop up around the 29th and 30th with 4ft to 5ft of clean, small surf, but the afternoons get messy. It's just a waiting game.
So, the standout? Lock in Thursday, July 23rd morning for your best shot. After that, keep an eye on the Sunday, July 26th morning for a clean, if smaller, session. It's not a classic run, but there are a few windows for a good surf.
