Avaavaroa Passage in Raratonga is an exposed reef break that has pretty consitent surf The best wind direction is from the north northeast. Groundswells more frequent than windswells and the best swell direction is from the southwest. There is a right hand reef break. Best around high tide when the tide is rising. Even when there are waves, it's not likley to be crowded. Beware of coral.

“Surfed today with a mate. 3 to 4 foot left hand barrels. Plenty of power and speed. Looks small from road as is a long paddle out but bigger once there. Can be a difficult paddle back against tide.
Stunning spot but go with a friend. Agree about leg rope!”
