Victoria Far West Surf Breaks

Far Western Victoria is open to the elements; cold water, strong winds and big swell are common in the winter while the summer provides heat waves and flat spells. There are a number of world class reef breaks scattered along the coast but most take a rare combination of winds and swell to really turn on. Some more consistant reefs and points provide a staple for local surfers to keep their sanity while waiting for better waves and a series of beaches deliver fun waves when the swell is small. Summer offers a break from big swell and strong winds. Autumn is typically the time of year with more consistant offshore winds. Easter is traditionally the time when the big swells and offshores combine to produce some amazing big waves, for those who are game. The coastline is a series of cliffs and long beaches. Access to surf spots away from towns often requires a long walk, cliff climb and local knowledge.
