Alright, the 16-day outlook is a story of two halves. We’ve got a mix of surfable windows and some pretty flat or choppy spells, but there are a couple of days that really stand out. The first few days start off with some promise, but there’s a real lull around the middle of the period before a solid pulse of energy kicks in for the last few days.

The first real session worth paddling out for is Thursday afternoon, the 6th of August. The swell is lined up at 4 ft out of the SW, but the period is a very long 16 seconds. That’s proper groundswell, and it’s packing a punch with a combined energy of 1163. The wind is glassy—just a slight air—so the surface is going to be clean as a whistle. For a spot like La Punta Dos, which is an advanced reef break, this is going to be a treat. The water temp is about average for the time of year, so no surprises there.

Friday afternoon, the 7th, is another decent call. Swell is a touch bigger at 5 ft, still out of the SW with a 13-second period. The energy is still good at 778, and you’ve got that glassy wind again. The waves should be well-shaped, though the crowd factor is a possibility at this spot, so don’t expect to have it all to yourself.

Now, here’s the downer. From Saturday the 8th through to the 15th, things get messy. The wind swings cross-onshore for most of it, and the swell is either small, short-period, or just confused. There’s a period around the 12th where the swell drops to 0.7 ft with a 20-second period—that’s just a ghost. The combined energy plummets to 56. It’s a real flat spell, and the cross-onshore winds make it choppy and ugly. This is a six-day gap where you’d be better off doing something else.

There’s a flicker of hope on Sunday the 16th afternoon. The wind goes glassy again, and while the swell is only 4 ft at 12 seconds, it’s clean and the energy is 502. It’s a decent session, but not a standout.

The real highlight is the end of the run. The 19th of August is when things get serious. Wednesday morning the swell is 6 ft out of the SW with a 15-second period and a massive combined energy of 1679. But the wind is cross-on, so it’s a bit messy. However, Wednesday afternoon is the pick of the whole forecast. The swell holds at 7 ft, still SW, period 15 seconds, and the energy rockets to 1883. That’s a lot of power. And the wind? Glassy. This is proper heavy groundswell for the advanced crew at La Punta Dos. It’s going to be a long-period swell, so at a point break like this, it’ll peel beautifully. This is a powerful, clean, world-class session.

The standouts then carry on into Thursday the 20th with glassy winds again. The morning has 6 ft swell at 14 seconds, and the afternoon is 5 ft at 14 seconds. Both have excellent conditions listed for experienced surfers. This is the best run of the whole forecast.

The overall best on offer is Wednesday afternoon, the 19th of August. The 7 ft SW groundswell, with that very long 15-second period and glassy wind, is going to be pumping. Just be aware that with swell over 8 ft, it’s only for experts, and this is close. For the strong intermediate, the Thursday the 20th sessions are a safer bet. The 19th is the real standout.
