Port Waikato-The Reef in West Coast Auckland is an exposed reef break that has unreliable waves with no particular seasonal pattern. Offshore winds are from the east southeast. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the ideal swell angle is from the southwest. A left hand reef. Best around low tide when the tide is rising. When it's working here, it can get crowded. Beware of rips and rocks.
