Jacks Point surf break:

“A good wave on a heavy south-east swell, best early morning or evening before onshore picks up. If timed right you'll miss the older small-minded local crew who seem to think they own that particular piece of the pacific.”

Doheney Beach surf break:

“On a good day DOHO provides long ridable waves. The crowd can be a factor in summer though.

Hussas surf break:

“I started surfing Huzzas as a beginner 50 years ago. Back there again because Im in my late 60's and the body can't take the hammering from the heavier surf.
Huzzas is fun, and when its big you can actually get barrelled. The big plus is, like the neighbouring South Point, the headland protects the breaks from the the southerly winds, which are very common.
Because the swell has to wrap around South Point to get into the bay the waves are generally not as powerful as you will get in the exposed breaks on the western coast.
Summer, where Huzzas is very small, is good for grommies and their parents teaching them to surf. When you combine this with all the international backpackers on long boards also trying to learn to surf it can turn into total carnage with 50+ people in the water.
In winter with the heavier swells Huzzas can actually crank and will be working when everywhere else is closed out.
Huzzas is really two breaks. The outside peak works best on a high or incoming tide and when the swell is big. The inside break is very slow and works in small swell, good for beginners. The annoying time is when the swell is too small for the outside break to work but destroys the grommies on the inside break leaving them bobbing in the white water like moguls on a ski slope.”

A Note About Secret Spots
In compiling this website, we have endeavoured to include data for the main global surf breaks. If anyone feels we have accidentally exposed a secret spot, let us know and if we agree that it is sensitive, we'll take it down.
