Peka Peka Surf Guide

Peka Peka in Wanganui-Manawatu is a reasonably exposed beach break that does not work very often with no particular seasonal pattern. Offshore winds are from the southeast. Waves just as likely from local windswells as from distant groundswells and the ideal swell angle is from the northwest. The beach break provides left and right handers. Best around high tide when the tide is falling. Even when there are waves, it's not likley to be crowded. Watch out for .

J from New Zealand
“Peka Peka is in the Wellington Region and the next closest break is Otaki.
90% of the waves are from wind swell and they don't usually line up that well. Best surfed on a board with a bit of volume to help you get through the flat sections of the wave. As with anywhere it can get good (a couple of times a year) but there are always better waves close by. It's ok if you've been surf starved or don't have a lot of time to look else where.”
