Table - best surf conditions forecast for Woolacombe over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ for the next couple of weeks.
Straight up, I gotta be honest with you – the 16-day window for Woolacombe is a real struggle. We’re looking at a long, dry spell with barely a ripple to get excited about. The first actual surfable day doesn't show up until Friday the 10th of July, and even then, it’s pretty weak. The overall pattern is just a whole lot of nothing, with a few low-energy windows that’ll have you working hard for next to nothing.
The water temp is sittin’ at 63°F, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so that’s one small win.
Let’s break it down. After a flat start, Friday morning on the 10th of July is our best bet. We’ve got a clean 2 ft swell from the west, with a period of 9 seconds – small, short-period windswell, but it’s something. The wind is offshore from the ENE at 12 mph, which will keep the surface clean. The combined energy is a weak 58, so don’t expect much push. It’s surfable, but just barely. The afternoon sees the wind swing to a cross-shore, so stick to the morning.
Saturday the 11th of July is even smaller, with 1 ft from the west. The morning has a fresh offshore breeze from the east at 19 mph, which is clean but makes paddling a chore. The afternoon is a bit better with a cross-offshore wind, but the swell is tiny. This is a day for the longboard if you’re desperate.
From Sunday the 12th of July onward, it’s a ghost town. The swell drops to 0.7 ft or less, with long periods from the west-southwest that are just not gonna produce anything rideable at a beach and reef setup like Woolacombe. The wind is offshore, often strong, but there’s just no water moving. The energy readings are all in the single digits and low teens. It’s a total write-off for nearly two weeks.
The only other little blip comes right at the end, on Sunday the 19th of July. The swell bumps up to 2 ft from the northwest, but the period is a shocking 4 seconds. That’s just wind chop, and with the wind onshore from the west at 16 mph, it’s going to be a messy, blown-out mess. The energy is still only 17.
So, to be clear: this is a lean period. The only real window is Friday morning, the 10th of July. It’s not a standout by any means, but it’s the only game in town. Conditions are clean, but the swell is tiny. If you’re dead set on getting wet, that’s your moment. After that, pack the board away until the forecasts change.
Rusty.
