Site Message - Issued Wednesday September 8th. We have merged wave models for the Mediterranean, Baltic and Black Seas with the Global Model. Testing on our development machines suggests that things should run smoothly now that this is live but life is rarely this simple. If the next update of forecasts and maps looks like it is broken, this is probably the cause and we will have to revert to the previous model while we investigate. If it works ok, 72 hour forecasts for these areas will be available from now on. Because they tend to receive local wind swells rather than oceanic ground swells, things are not very predictable beyond 3 days which is why they won't go out to 7 days like our other forecasts.

Double Island Point on the North Coast is a sheltered point break that does not work very often Offshore winds are from the southwest. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the ideal swell direction is from the east. Waves at the beach tend to peel to the left Rarely crowded here. Beware of sharks ,rocks and jellyfish.
