Maine Surf Forecast map for predicting the best wave and wind conditions across the region. For surfers, the map shows the most powerful swell tracking across near-shore open water and not the peak waves experienced by boats out at sea. Move your mouse over the ocean swell symbols or the surf breaks on the coastline to see a more detailed surf forecast including wave period and wind conditions. The forecast updates every 6 hours and most live weather reports update every hour. You can animate the Maine Surf map or show live wind and wave conditions as reported from wavebuoys and local weather stations. Surf breaks shown along the Maine coastline are also listed below.

Maine Surf Breaks

Maine can get some decent swells roll through, which cater for a handful of surfers but in general doesn't get the surf I'm sure the coast would like. The odd Hurricane swells from the NE can create surf up and down the coast, large swells from the south are blocked by Cape Cod. Mainly sandy beaches with coves facing every angle a coast can face although with accessibility being a problem for many. Parking can be difficult and/or expensive in summer months where most places it's free in the winter, when is best to surf anyway.
