Windies (Ngawi) in The Wairarapa is an exposed reef and point break that has quite reliable surf, although summer tends to be mostly flat. Works best in offshore winds from the northeast with some shelter here from northeast winds. Waves just as likely from local windswells as from distant groundswells and the best swell direction is from the south. There is no beach break as well as a right hand reef break. An uncrowded break, even when it is working. Submerged rocks are a hazard.
