Wallys Surf Guide

Wallys in Los Angeles County is a fairly exposed point break that has unreliable waves. Winter is the favoured time of year for surfing here. The best wind direction is from the east northeast. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the optimum swell angle is from the west southwest. When it's working here, it can get crowded. Take care of urchins, rocks, locals and pollution.

“I wish someone had warned me about the locals at Wallys before I ever attempted to surf it. Crew of very tight men ranging from young adult to adult holds down this spot and can very very easily spot an outsider. They seem to all know each other and have a good grip on who normally rides the wave. Dangerous trail coupled with a non uniform reef of submerged boulders makes this wave hardly worth the hassle. I can only imagine this spot turns on very rarely and the days are few and far inbetween.

I ended my session here with a broken finbox, berated ego, and a clear understanding that this is not my, nor any other non-local's ideal wave. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SURF HERE”
