Nai Harn Beach in Phuket is an exposed beach and reef break that only works once in a while. May-Oct (Dry Season) is the best time of year for waves. Offshore winds are from the northeast. Easily blown out by an onshore breeze Windswells are much more typical than groudswells and the optimum wave angle is from the west. The beach break offers mainly left hand waves and there is also a right hand reef break. The quality of the surf isn't affected by the tide. When it's working here, it can get crowded. Hazards include - Rocks, rips.

“Used to live near Nai Harn beach. There are only waves here for half the year and during that time it is very rarely any good. Maybe 1 day a month is half decent when onshore winds aren't blowing hard. I wouldn't go out of your way to surf here. Kata is slightly better but if you want good waves you might as well just go to Indo or the Philippines.”
