Kata Beach Surf Guide

Kata Beach in Phuket is an exposed beach break that only works when conditions are just right. May-Oct (Dry Season) is the optimum time of year for waves. The best wind direction is from the northeast with some shelter here from north winds. Tends to receive a mix of groundswells and windswells and the best swell direction is from the southwest. The beach break provides left and right handers. Good surf at all stages of the tide. Often Crowded. Take care of rocks, rips, pollution after rain.

Bob Campbell from Thailand
“Its sad to see Kata going on a downward slide for five years. Every year something else bad is happening. This year its police extorting money out of people after they leave bars. I Had two glasses of wine at dinner and it cost me 20,000 baht.”
