Muckros Surf Guide

Muckros in Donegal is a fairly exposed beach break that has reasonably consistent surf and can work at any time of the year. The best wind direction is from the northeast. Windswells and groundswells in equal measure and the best swell direction is from the west. Waves at the beach are both lefts and rights. Relatively few surfers here, even on good days.

“Fickle break. Lucky if you get it working well 3 days a year. The Sand Banks are constantly getting destroyed by groundswells. There is a dangerous rip on both sides of the beach. This is an absolutely Impossible beach to predict. Not worth the hassle.”
