Meacom Pier Surf Guide

Meacom Pier in Texas is an exposed beach/Pier break that has quite consistent surf. The best conditions for surfing are during the hurricane season. Ideal winds are from the northwest. Waves more likely to be from local windswells than distant groundswells and the ideal wave direction is from the southeast. The beach breaks offer lefts and rights. When the surf is up, it can get quite busy in the water. Take care of rips, rocks, sharks and jellyfish.

“Meacom Pier, or as we knew it, Shorty's Longest Pier was a great spot to go in the early 80's. Never really that crowded and you could always jump off the pier if the surf was up and did not want to deal with paddling. The sandbars around the pier always seemed to kick up some nice surf. I had some great winter days there, shoulder to head high sets were common. Unfortunately, time and storms took away the old pier. These days when I passed by its location, there is no longer a pier and not really any beach access. Just for reference, the location on the map above has it located where the North Jetty is (no surf), where as Meacom's Pier was actually about 25 miles down the peninsula, a few miles past Rollover Pass. Great memories of the place though!”
