Haggerty's Surf Guide

Haggerty's and Malaga Cove in LA County is a quite exposed reef and point break that has very consistent waves. Winter is the best time of year for surfing here. Works best in offshore winds from the east southeast. Groundswells more frequent than windswells and the ideal swell angle is from the west northwest. There is a left breaking reef and there is a left hand point break too. Good surf at all stages of the tide. Often Crowded. Beware of urchins, rocks, locals and pollution.

“If you surf at Porto or Hags don't come here, if you do come here leave your attitude at your car. If you are lazy don't come here. Walk to paddle out 30 mins, swim to line-up 500+ yards every time you catch a wave so fatties stay away.”
