Goosewing Beach Surf Guide

Goosewing Beach in Rhode Island is a fairly exposed beach reef and point break that has reliable surf and can work at any time of the year. Ideal winds are from the north. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the best swell direction is from the southeast. The beach break offers both left and right hand waves as well as left and right hand reef breaks.. The quality of the surf isn't affected by the tide. Even when there are waves, it's not likley to be crowded. Surfing here means negotiating dangerous rips.

“I was invited to surf here this week 9/16-9/25 because no local would tackle the large groomed sets coming from several storms.......seems Little Compton (no, not Crenshaw and Homieville) only surf at beach clubs on 3' wind slop closeouts......there were waves from 3- 10' with predominantly N winds and rides like Santa Cruz where I live....no one there! Breton pt was cross-wind, but reminded me of Haleiwa. Goosewing is an A-frame Sunset-type break left and right...Pretty heavy and slight tube sections. 2 more breaks west were points, but seemed could only handle waves less than 6'......we tried some fried clams (tasted like you know what stank!) and they reminded us of baby bulut! The citizens there are in a time warp wearing Puritan clothing and have sex with their clothes on.....damn! Gimme good ole Cal Pelosi liberalism any day!”
