Devonport Rivermouth on the West Coast is a fairly exposed point/rivermouth break that only works once in a while. Winter is the best time of year for surfing here. Offshore winds blow from the south southwest. Windswells are much more typical than groudswells and the ideal wave direction is from the northwest.The break here is a left hand point. Surfable at all stages of the tide. It's sometimes crowded here. Watch out for rips and rocks.

“Terrible place, never any surf, when there is it is small, go to the east or west coast and you will get World-class waves every week. This is a trash spot, and when there are waves there is always on-shore wind, when there is off-shore it is 1/2 a meter and in ankle-deep water.”
