Coalcliff in Sydney South is an exposed beach break that has very consistent surf and works all around the year. Offshore winds blow from the southwest. Waves just as likely from local windswells as from distant groundswells and the ideal swell angle is from the southeast. The beach break offers mainly left hand waves. Rarely crowded here. Watch out for urchins, rips, rocks, obstacles, locals and sharks.

Phil Osopher from Australia
“Haven't surfed here for years, but have fond memories of the RH reef producing quick takeoffs, but frustrated by the mellow end section. The bombie sometimes produced some wally left numbers, which would start with a steep takeoff and invite multiple cutties, before producing a nice section breaking into a deep gutter which produced the most unusual noise when all the stones crashed together in the shorey.
On certain tides, the mid break produced some fun right and left peaks. Not sure if this has changed, but it was always a good midweek option and offered some protection from the southerlies.”
