Avoca Point Surf Guide

Avoca Point in Newcastle is an exposed beach and point break that has fairly consistent surf, although summer tends to be mostly flat. Works best in offshore winds from the southwest with some shelter here from south winds. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the ideal swell angle is from the east. The beach breaks offer lefts and rights Best around low tide. When the surf is up, it can get quite busy in the water. Hazards include rips and rocks.

Roger from Australia
“Avoca point is a waste of time full of kooks and the waves are garbage, same with the whole central coast always onshore and small. Plenty of agro in the water to. I did not feel one bit welcome anywhere on the central coast.
My car was stolen while I was surfing and all my things taken. They found my car outside the local methadone clinic
and the police did nothing.”
